Insurance companies that count "Named" drivers?

    Hi,

I'm planning on buying my own car, for my own personal use. However I've been a named driver on my wifes policy for nearly 10 years now (and she has 10yrs NCD). But apparently this doesn't count for me?

Also we're with a company that don't do two cars on one policy

I've got classic insurance on my Mini - but this doesn't count as NCD either...

Do any insurers count the fact I've been a named driver?
confused.com and the comparison sites don't seem to take this into account, or allow two cars :/

    Thanks in advance

It's dependant on your current insurer issuing you any type of NCD as a named driver and not a potential new insurer. Last I remember the only company to offer this was direct line.

Unfortunately your just going to have to bite the bullet and start a fresh.

Yup as the above, but the fact you can state no accidents or claims in the last 5 years works to lower your premium anyway outside of the NCD.

Re: Insurance companies that count "Named" drivers?

Agreed this sounds like the sort of thing Admiral might help with.

Failing that, try a broker like A-plan. Expensive for simple cases, but can be good for tricky cases like this.
