The car moved - that is already the huge risk with a wheel that is not properly attached. These things launch with huge energy so as soon as the driver lets go of the clutch the risk starts. If the mistake had been spotted before release then it'd have been fine, but actually he was well away from the pit box before he stopped, so much too late from a safety perspective.

    Re: F1 2014 (And fantasy F1)

Yeah, feel sorry for Rosberg - he's got the pace, but also slightly better manners! Hamilton just pushed him off the track each time he tried to go around the outside. Pretty sure had that been a non-team mate there would be complaints and I'm sure we've seen penalties for the same moves in previous races.

I had a good round in the Fantasy F1 - so nearly picked the top four for my team, only a late fade from Hulkenberg denied me! As a result kalniel's klangers just scrapes ahead of AC Motorsport for the top spot in the league. We all failed miserably on our bonus spot picks though!

I only saw the hightlights, but it did look like a pretty good race - not just Hamilton and Rosberg, but all through the field there was some pretty good racing. Any idea why both McLaren's pulled out? They didn't say much on the BBC show.

Clutch issues on both cars. Button reckons he might have been on the podium without it!

The highlights were quite annoying - hard to follow some of the developing stories.

Same steering wheel used in all the cars?
No trees were harmed in the creation of this message. However, many electrons were displaced and terribly inconvenienced.

Sorry no, that's just the Sauber one - just illustrating some of the features the drivers have to deal with regarding the energy recoperation etc.. They have the option to use a common display but they can change the software. Everything else is custom.

Been there; done that; got the t-shirt. Actually got a few for running various tracks.

Not strictly true, I didn't go to China but should be in September for another racing series.

Hope you enjoy yourself; it's definitely an experience. Do you know what support races are there? Can be less at fly-always but sometimes you get some good random ones.

Yeah im working on a fly away at the moment but its design freeze tonight so im just here for the enjoyment the rest of the time!

Not sure about the support races actually but if the taxi ride i had last night way anything to go by then theycould just stick a load of VW Jettas on the circuit and let the taxi drivers battle it out! Would be highly entertaining.

Despite the fact my pass gets me everywhere except the paddock and the pitlane, i wanted to get an actual seat for the race so i got a grandstand ticket. I have a wicked seat for the race, right on top of the start line!

I dont understand people complaining about the sound, i think its fantastic!

Yeah, I agree about the noise. It is just what you are used to. Old school engines used to have poor silencing so powerful engines made lots of noise. That is no longer necessary, so why expect it in F1? F1 is cutting edge technology, and I don't see why anyone should expect noise when there is no reason for it.

I remember when Jap bikes took over. Before then motorbikes were always loud. The Jap manufacturers proved that performance bikes could sound like sewing machines and still out-perform old school bikes. Things move on.

    Re: F1 2014 (And fantasy F1)

Not sure how good the race was in China - highlights as ever gave a very patchy picture and I couldn't get a good impression of the ebb and flow of the race. Seems they build the cars (Williams and Mercedes) quite strong these days - was sure we'd see some suspension damage from the contacts at the start of the race.

In Fantasy F1 it was tight up front - a tactical switch from kalniel's klangers almost paid off but a bad pitstop meant they should have stuck to their previous choices Still the lead scorer but only by a point in that race. AC motorsport are doing very well on the fixed strategy. McLaren's poor performence is hurting those teams at the bottom of the Hexus league.

They promised an update of the exhaust pipe mid season to improve the sound. But I think the sound is not the problem of this season, it's more the total domination of a team/engine.
