    Sony XSP-N1BT car stereo.

I've just bought a 2011 Mazda 2 and although it has AUX support on the radio I really want/need bluetooth. After looking at Pioneer and Kenwood, I thought I'd check the Sony website and stumbled across the XSP-N1BT.

    http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in...ayers/xsp-n1bt

It supports all phones through bluetooth but I was planning on getting a Z2 when it comes out and this thing is designed for the new Xperia phones, with the charging done through the side strip.

The release date is supposed to be May and it'll retail about $250, no word on UK pricing when I checked last week. It's exactly what I am looking for so thought I'd mention it, looks like it was announced in January but I hadn't heard about it until finding it by accident!

Looks pretty pimp, to be honest I wouldn't trust sony as far as I could throw them to maintain compatibility with devices, but I suppose that depends how long you're keeping the car. If you;d be happy with single DIN PM me I have something you could use.

Either way I'd be looking for something with at least one rear mounted USB connection, that will let you run a cable somewhere out of the way so you can leave some form of MP3 player or similar plugged in (in my old Hyundai Coupe I wired it into the centre armrest bin thingy)

Don't you want the phone where you can see it on a screen mount for satnav use etc while charging, and stream music from the phone music player via bluetooth? Would have thought plenty of head units could stream these days.

    Re: Sony XSP-N1BT car stereo.

I had something like that set up in my old 05 Clio at one point. Eventually I got tired of putting the phone in the holder and plugging it in and would just throw the phone into the cup holder.

I'd been looking at the Pioneer SPH-DA110 as it has AppRadio and stuff. It is a nice piece of kit but at £300, considering I'll be getting an Xperia Z2, the Sony unit is much more convenient and hopefully cheaper as it looks pretty basic until you throw a phone into it. No wires for a start as once the phone's docked it'll charge. Means I don't need a seperate mount for the phone either, the current stereo is quite high up the dashboard.

So yeah, I think it's the best thing ever and I won't hear otherwise!

    Re: Sony XSP-N1BT car stereo.

Hi Mate, realise this is going back a few years but did you ever install the XSP-N1BT into your Mazda?
Thinking of doing the same, but the head unit on the stock stereo unit looks much bigger than the XSP-N1BT. So wondering if there's going to be gaps filling in the space, if you know what I mean?

    Cheers

I did! Posted about it on a Mazda forum, there's a picture of the finished article and everything.

Bit messy but I'm used to it and it's surprisingly solid.

Only issue I have now is Sony no longer do the charging port on the side and my Z2 is on its last legs!
