Oh, a pedant mode argument. Goody. Not had one for a while.
Despite the apparently tautalogical contradiction, it is actually really just a restatement of Heraclitusian principles. So yes, of course you can. You can expect that the unexpected will happen, and can to some degree narrow down the range of probabilities as to what the unexpected might be, but while you can expect the unexpected, you can't be sure what, or indeed if and when it'll be and actually happen.
Thus, you can expect 'the unexpected', you just cannot expect exactly what it'll be .... just that something unexpected may happen, and drive accordingly. This is also the principle on which pure research is based. I wonder what happens if I do this, and mix it with that? I don't expect anything specific, or even that anything much will happen at all, but I do it to see if it might. I expect that, sooner or later, if I keep doing this, something I don't expect might happen. I might discover electricity, or radiation, or a cure for cancer, even though I wasn't specifically looking for them.
And so for driving. Drive in the expectation that something unexpected might happen. Or as my (police trained) driving teacher used to tell me, assume every other driver is an idiot, and might do something unexpected. Then, you won't be too surprised when one does.
Putting that another way, I can expect, sooner or later, some idiot to do something irrational and unpredictable, but not specifically what or when, and I can drive accordingly. I could also drive expecting an asteroid impact or a nuclear detonation, but I'm not convinced adapting my driving style or techniques will help me much.
Next base 402g bud. Easy enough to setup. Need to install software for playback. Not done this yet as I have exams n stuff and not messed with anything in a while. Roll on may 7
They were on offer in maplin last week. Probably cheaper than the £99 I believe I paid.
Some other things I have noticed :
- Asians will walk out in front of a moving car, even if they have spotted you from a mile away. And as they slowly walk across, they will give you the look - "Can't you see that I am walking".
They have this menatality that they get priority on the roads based on their age and not based on the rules!
I have also spotted many blocking a one-way as they load or off-load goods ... park and do it for fks sake!
And, I have Asian roots...ARGH...
- East European drivers should NOT be allowed to drive in our country without first passing a UK driving test. They change lanes on dual carriageways without indicating, in fact, they never indicate anywhere! And, they never like being stuck behind traffic. They will drive into oncoming traffic as they pass you and will then create a gridlock as they try to squeeze back in to their own side of the road.
I also nearly had a crash yesterday as a muppet jumped lights on a signal controlled large roundabout. Might be a good time to invest in a dashcam and report such unsafe drivers to the coppers. Oh, hang on, we don't have much coppers left!

-when you come across an unsafe driver on the road . e.g. changing lanes on a 50mph dual carriageway without indicating
I keep my cool and just curse him in my head.
-when you suspect a driver does not have a license as their driving is not polished and something that a driver who had driving lessons would never do.
I ignore him and I just concentrate on my driving.
-when a driver without insurance hits your car
I demand for him to pay for the damages in cash and I file a police report. If he can't afford it, I will submit a claim on my insurance company to pay for the damages under what is called uninsured motorist coverage.
How do I explain it ?
It's this roundabout :
So, I was in place of the red van. There were two cars next to me on their respective lanes. Our lights had just gone green. Now, as we were all stationary, it takes a few seconds for us to move off.
The offender slowly drives up to the red lights ( where the blue min-van is ) but does not stop! I was definitely expecting him to stop as he was approaching the lights. He continues on right in front of us and we all have to immediately stop and honk at him.
Now, from my understanding of how traffic signals work.... Signal A will show amber for a few seconds and then it turns red. Signal B will then show green after a few seconds.

From my understanding of how people work, they probably thought the red lights were somehow for someone else. Or they were too busy texting or shouting at their children for stop fighting to notice the red light.
OTOH, see that M25 thing? Your distance to it at that roundabout, you want to be at least that far the other side of it. Then people won't be as aggressive, and if they do have a brain fade and do something stupid then usually they at least have the decency to give you an apologetic smile.
I live in commuting distance from London, and you can tell the people who have just come off the motorway on their way home of an evening: ultra aggressive, gesturing and impatient because they haven't calmed down yet. I don't see why they do it every day, can't be good for their health.
Ah, the clue is in the top left corner - Dagenham!
Even more reason to try to anticipate and expect the unexpected, particularly if white van man is involved!

I knew some unsafe drivers once, caused many crashes.
I reinstalled Windows and all was fine
