A new horse to the stable!

Never thought I'd see myself in a brand new car but as they're implementing a few revisions into MY16 the deal was too hard to refuse.

So my new home for the next 3 years and 90,000 miles!

Not normally a fan of the VAG groupings but I've always been impressed with the Octavia. Nor have I seen too many others in the same colour. I suspect most people could afford to actually have it painted...

    Welcome to the Bismarck!

Grabbed a few shots on my way home, nothing comprehensive.

    Skoda Octavia VRS
The standard spec is rather good to say the least.
Very few extras ticked. Black Design Pack, 'Sunset' glass (privacy glass to you and me!) and the basic Nav chucked in as they're shifting the units FOC. Only things I'd have plumped for would have been folding mirrors and heated seats, but I didn't/couldn't wait for a factory build slot without spending a fair chunk of £££ on the current daily.

    Ha, thanks!

I like it. Difficult colour to suss based on pics alone, when googling it each image made it look slightly different.

Yep, amazingly well equipped and BIG! Obviously built onto the MQB platform, previous generations were easy to spot/believable to be a golf with a bigger boot but this thing seems to be a class up. (I know it's not but when parked next to similar siblings it stands out).

bloody hell.. it DOES suit that colour doesn't it?

that colour SHOULD be the kiss of death.. but it's OK!

Octavia is STILL one of the finest choices...

Re: A new horse to the stable!

Did you think I'd pick it if it didn't suit?!

I've seen it on a few other marques and really didn't like it, but you know it kinda just well... works!

Ok I'll give you that one!

So just over 1,000 miles in and I'm still liking it as much as when it arrived at my office.

Only negatives so far being, you can tell they've been strangled somewhat to still be 'not as good' as the VW/Audi equivalent. A small lack of sound deadening in places and a bit too much plastic. Oh and the small fuel tank! Other than that, it's a good work horse.

Re: A new horse to the stable!

As said before, very nice and stealthy

Was looking at a previous gen VRs myself when I was looking at a new car, was between that, the Megane Renaultsport and the Fiesta, the size was more than I needed so went FiST

How bad does it look dirty? Imagine the colour handles grime pretty well

That's a striking car in that colour, and with that bodykit. Very smart, and a little fierce.

Always had a soft spot for the Octavia.
Plus from past experience they certainly can take plenty of punishment!

    Awesome. New car smell incoming!
If it's something from the VAG group I know they've been struggling with the sheer weight of traffic at the ports so there's been a backlog to clear.

Nice, the Mk3 certainly is a step up in size! Feels like a different class, more Mondeo sized than Focus.

Thanks, yep as an allrounder it's a tough car to beat.
Price wise there really wasn't much in it between a Fiesta ST, Focus ST TDCi and the VRS. As much as I'd have loved the Fiesta, semi-sensible hat went on and the fuel bill would be a touch higher and it seemed fine doing it but not my first choice for fairly long stretches in the thing!

No idea on that front, I know from experience that gunmetal greys are amazing for hiding the dirt. I'm talking months between washes and the majority being hidden, hoping this is similar. I'll let you know...

Not a VAG, one of these:

Only a Zetec though, and it won't have those wheels...

Blue is the best colour for cars, doesn't wear dirt well though. :/
