It's not illegal to film in public places and dashcams only point forward or backwards. So unless the kids are having classes in the middle of the road, no one is going to care. Pretty much all buses and taxies have been fitted with cameras for years now.
The only time you need to turn them off is to avoid filming something that might be sensitive, like on a secure government site or possibly on private land if the owner requests no filming.

With a dash cam, does anyone know if it's the law to have a "CCTV in this vehicle" sticker on the car?
I know with normal CCTV, for a building you need signs, but not sure about cars. I'd imagine it'd be the same so you would need a sticker.
Also, my Satnav doubles up as a dash cam recorder
Don't do dash cam unless you want to be branded a peado. Most dash cams are small and placed in a hidden position (not necessarily on the dash), and now a lot of drivers have a smartphone with inbuilt camera on the dash or window.Drive past a local school with a dash cam.........lets see what happens if someone spots it.
How would anyone outside the car identify if the phone camera was on or if they could even see the dash cam, I really don't think anyone will bat an eyelid or brand drivers as a paedophile. A phone will just be seen as a phone, I'm certainly not going to bother taking it off the dash every time I drive passed a school its too cumbersome and I'm more at risk of crashing into something while removing it or putting it back. And what about the cams inbuilt into cars now how on earth do drivers deal with those?
What would you suggest drivers do in the school holidays, remove their phone or dash cam every time they drive passed a group of kids walking to the shops or larking about?
Every time a child walks passed CCTV in the town centre the camera must point to the sky to avoid the operators being classed as paedophiles?
I think this is just a nonsense statement.
I'm more concerned that someone would think like that to begin with - Guilty conscience, perhaps?
Aaaaaaaaanyways.......
Back to actual advice for us peeps just starting driving lessons, please!
As is, I'm doing OK - Scoring 4/5 on most things. Working on bay parking, doing alright on the parallel. Not worth spit on reversing around a corner.
Also have a nasty habit of pulling wide before junction turns, then realising I'm not on a motorcycle...!!
my wife just started driving again after a long break. It's definitely back to school, but fortunately she is honest enough to realise it.
After you pass,
Don't use Google maps.
Try something better like Co-Pilot.
Or learn to navigate without a satnav.
If you can't see ahead drop your speed.
Patience. I always think the person in front of me is going to do something i don't expect and unfortunately I'm right more often than not.
