I bought my wife a supercar driving experience for her birthday, which we went on yesterday at Prestwold nr Loughborough. She got to drive a DB9, Lambo Gallardo, 911 Turbo and an F430, and came away liking the Ferrari the best, even though she had a dislike for them before she drove one.

They do Pay & Drive, and I'd clocked the McLaren 570s when we got there. I asked permission from she who must be obeyed (I know it's your day, but can I have a go in the McLaren?). Went to the counter, they were doing 4 laps for the price of 3. And wow. Just wow. Best car I have ever driven (and I've driven an Austin Maestro!). I'm seriously thinking about selling a kidney to get one.

This is the exact colour, and my son liked it, which is important (although he prefers the Huracan)

I did an Italian super car day at Thruxton a couple of years ago (part of the 5th Gear competition package when I won the Audi TT Quattro Sport) and drove similar cars. I came to the same conclusion, the Ferrari was the best and I really disliked the Lambo, it was like driving a tractor in comparison.

She liked the Lambo better than the Porsche, but not as much as the Ferrari. She drove the Ferrari last, so up to that point, the Lambo was her fave and she had low expectations, but was very pleasantly surprised.
I guess if I'm going to have a McLaren, I should get her a 488 as well.

A friend of mine has a 570s, after much, much begging he allowed me to have a drive in it, but only in a residential area. It's almost as much fun as flying.

It is indeed a tremendous machine, and being able to really open it up and go past the F430s and Atoms like they weren't there was immense. I don't believe that the Atom driver was really going for it, but the 570 inspired such confidence that I was hot well before he was.

if you ever have the chance... do the same type of day but in classic super cars....

it's eye opening beyond belief...

E type and AC Cobra, old 911 etc

Did they let you really open the cars up? I've heard on some of these days you have to really baby the cars, which seems to defeat the point a little!

No, they really let you open up. In fact the instructor was telling me off for braking too early, and not releasing earlier. There was also one corner where instinct is telling you to brake, but he was saying 'don't touch the brake!'
