Ah, the nostalgia...I learnt to drive in a 1.3 Nova
A colleague spends a lot of time dragging heaps of rust out of swamps that have the resemblance of a vin number from early VW campers on them, he makes a killing selling them.
Collectors are nutters, but hey, you can make a lot of money off nutters it seems.
I've been on both ends of collecting cars
but not so long as I have a hole in my bum would I pay that for that.
It's prolly worth £6k ish though.. maybe £7

Nary a spot of rust on it. Who on earth would pay £16k for a Nova? It's a C-reg, won't even have a passenger side wing mirror! I paid a darn site less than what they're asking there for a much newer, more powerful, useful and comfortable car that won't rust at the first glimpse of the seaside.
Annoyingly, my step sister had a Nova, and whilst we knew it was worth a few quid, turns out she couldn't be bothered and just scrapped it
Back in the day, I briefly had a 1.2 l Nova saloon. I had just acquired a wife and family so my beloved Escort Cabriolet got traded in for a 2.0L MG Montego estate - and I had the Nova! The Montego was surprisingly good fun (and seated 7), but the build quality was flaky to say the least - although mechanically it was OK - I changed a water pump and kicked up a fuss when the core plugs started leaking, so Rover repaired that as a 'goodwill' gesture.
The Nova felt very underpowered, but it wasn't a bad little car.

Reminds me of a young bloke once being asked why he had paid the price of a small house for a Ferrari. Answer: Everyone has a house
But I have to agree, there is more fun to be had for 16K than a Nova.
Edit: Would get a few K for it though. Classic insurance, might actually make an OK first car if you don't mind tinkering to keep it reliable.
