Anyone know of anywhere for some 4x4 Off-roading?

So I love my car and I'd really like to go and do some more off-roading with it. (Mitsi ASX, 1.8d 4x4)
I've already scratched it and it's really just a practical car (working up the Mitsi's....)

I know there are some pay as you play type places around, but wondered if anyone has any experience of these things?

Does anyone have any suggestions? Advice? Tips?

There's a 4x4 place in Pingewood and another in Aldermarston, both near Reading/M4.
Several clubs always making use of the facilities too, so they're probably good. There's even an annual 4x4 show here.

Beyond that, I only know them when they drive past my place.

My advice would be to avoid using your own car to start with, you might pick up a few scratches but I have seen cars lose the entire front bumper and trim on a relatively tame course. Ground clearance is the limiting factor and if the course is used by larger vehicles and clubs the ruts can be deep. A badly placed tree stump can cause serious damage.

It's got pretty good clearance and I may have already added a few "aesthetic" improvements of my own (It's mostly plastic from what I can ascertain) so I dont mind giving it a bit of a go somewhere. Just a general "where do I start" kind of thing.

Yes - Complete beginner. I do likes it tho. Steep sandy car parks in France, in and out the trees etc.

I had two days off road training at the Land Rover experience centre near Rockingham, using their vehicles. All very controlled and sedate but still with some impressive maneuvers using the specific hill controls in the Land Rovers.
When i was there we saw the pre-production Evoque being put through its paces and some owners being shown how to properly use their newly purchased LRs, maybe they would allow you to use their course for a fee?
