Its actually a more interesting question if you know the answer. You might be pleasantly surprised!
I thought car nuts would actually find the origins of the first V8 and indeed the first production injection engine(which was also that same engine) actually something actually interesting. Oh well apparently, not!

Actually well before that war. It was first run in 1902,had injection and was water cooled. It was used in competition speedboats, early aircraft and then in a few cars built by the same company in 1906(with RR making a less advanced V8 which had no injection around the same time to compete with electric cars, ironically). You got the country right - it was France. Now I will shut up,otherwise I don't think a box will be that comfortable!
My main job does actually qualify me as a railway professional, especially since I hold PTS (AC & DCCR) for working trackside. However, I also moonlight as a mechanic, so am all about the cars.
I therefore feel quite uniquely qualified to derail both this thread and any others...
However, I believe the legal requirement is a lot more recent than the '90s, as they tried to force it on bikes and only a few of them had ABS. My current model had it as an optional extra back around 1992, but I was living in Reading where the local MAG started harping on about the plans before they brought it in, so.... Some time after 2004?
