    A fun day at Brands!

I went back to Brands on Friday for a full day on the Indy circuit. Limited to 20 minute sessions, but it was the best track day I've done so far. There was another CRX there (the yellow one) which had been racing in this years TinTops series (which is what I'll be entering into next year), driven by Neil and Chris. We spent a lot of the day sharing ideas and setup info, then for 2 sessions in the afternoon we had our own private 'race' out on track.

We stuck to the rules, but basically we were pushing as hard as possible. It was amazing. People watching said it was like a mini CRX Challenge race! The best thing for me is that my self built, self tuned hodge-podge concoction of best guesses (not to mention the in-experienced pilot), is able to match the pace of a developed and proven race winning car

We were (unofficially of course) doing lap times which would have put us well up the grid in a 2006 TinTops race, so we should both be highly competitive next year. Anyway, enough babble... here's some pics and video!

    10 lap video

Should hopefully have some high-res pics soon.

Great way to round out 2006 which has been such an amazing year for me.

    Thanks for looking

    Nice one Shad

Out of interest were those Civic TypeRs flat out?
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

On the straights, the CTRs (and everything for that matter) were flat out. In the corners and under braking, it's hard to say. They can't carry the same cornering speed because they are still road cars, they lack the sheer mechanical grip. However, they all have 200+ hp whereas I have just 140. Sara's race CTR (the black/orange/white one) was cruising when I pass her in the vid, but it runs around a second a lap quicker than me when on pace.

The fastest unofficial time I have on video is a 58.72. A low 58 is deffinitely doable

but oh matey...can you drop that final drive in anyway? A new crownwheel or slightly smaller rims?

Very good film, good lines, getting better by the lap....but no where near maxxed in 5th......you need a box!

Didn't even use 5th Zak - 2nd through 4th only. I can drop in a 4.25 final drive which would help I think (current is 3.8). Can't go any smaller than the 15" rims due to the brakes.

    Cheers though

    Good going Shad!

You know I have been having evil thoughts of turning the GTR into a bit of a track car.... its never gonna make a sensible daily drive road car with a 400bhp, 2 way diffs, and teethcrunching shocks

Threads like this continue to inspire me, and continue to apply a lot of pressure on to the sensible side of me

Who will win? Who will lose?
