Brave New World vs. 1984

Similarities? Differences?
Having read both books I must say I like them equally well. Both books present controversial issues regarding government. What's your thoughts on them?

Sounds a bit like homework rather than a fun discussion So I'll just say I enjoyed Brave New World a lot, 1984 hardly at all.

Nah I'm done with those two books (including the assignments with it LOL; I typically find my English assignments interesting and will rather put in my own thoughts then to copy someone else's off of Internet)
This thread is purely for the fun of discussing 2 very similar books. 1984 was giving me goose bumps especially at the end; somehow reminds me of V for Videtta. (hope I spell that word right)

BNW has been on my to read list for years now, 1984 i didnt exactly 'enjoy', but its still a must read for the prophetic content imo.

David Icke claims that both authors were in the fabian society (to which he ascribes a sinister hidden agenda as part of a global network of such societies) the difference was that Huxley was trying to advance the system (an exercise in 'predictive programming') whereas Orwell had rebelled and was trying to expose it, he choose '1984' specifically because it would be the anniversary of the fabians.

Both of those books are in my favourites, and I have recently read both again as they offer contrasting views of the what the future could look like one day. Personally I think the BNW future is more believable.
