    H100i - Problems

Firstly, I must say that the packaged instructions were clear and installation was relatively easy although my case isn't the optimal framework to hang this cooler off, the H80i would have been easier.

Secondly, the cooling performance has exceeded what I was expecting by about 4oc so kudos to you for that Corsair.

    However...I have some issues:

I downloaded and ran the Corsair Link package. Everything looked OK until I realized that none of the H100i pump or fan display icons were showing like they were in the User Manual. I did a quick check in Device Manager and it said that it was missing some drivers for the USB link from the pump to the Mobo. I did the fix and everything appeared as per the manual. Happy days...or so I thought. I went through all of the various settings and essentially set up a "Quiet"-ish profile and saved it as per instructions. Then I clicked the minimize button...Corsair Link didn't Minimize, it Closed and then it wouldn't reopen despite my best efforts. "Let's try a reboot said I", success, Corsair Link reopened...AH!...no success, the saved profile had disappeared and the display icons for the H100i were conspicuous by their absence AND the Device Manager was reporting missing drivers again.

I cleared out Corsair Link completely, re-downloaded the program from your site and repeated the process.
    Same results.

Tried the above step again but this time downloaded an earlier version of Corsair Link.
    Same results.

I did a trawl of your forums and other websites including HEXUS but could find nothing specific to my problem. I did find that there are quite a lot of people complaining of buggy software so it could be that my symptoms are a "unique" manifestation of the bugs.

A small saving grace is that the profile I created seems to embedded itself into whatever controls the H100i and the setup runs at an acceptable decibel level. However I want to tinker and get it quieter and more responsive and I can't do this if I'm continually re-booting or re-loading drivers.

I need some direction here...I've tried everything I know short of taking the H100i out and re-installing.
But I'm sure that that isn't going to solve the driver / software problems.

I look forward to your response.

Edit: Apologies I appear to have posted this in Cases rather than cooling...feel free to move it.

I also had this problem but I followed this guide. You basically have to go into the registry and change a setting to allow the usb port to detect the fans etc. It is post 19 where the guide is.

Thanks for this Marc I will have a more in depth look at home tonight...brief scan of the page says this is for Win 8.1 but doesn't say Win 7 do you know if it works for 7 off the top of your head?

I am not 100% sure it will work on windows 7 but there is no harm in trying it. I would recommend maybe backing up that part of the registry just to make sure you dont lose it!

I found this thread http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=113981 posted back in June 2013 for Win 7 users...but June!! Surely Corsair have sorted all the issues by now or have I got an "old" stock item from SCAN with "old" firmware I wonder.

The trouble is I can't find anything official from Corsair that addresses my combination of problems so I'm a tad reluctant to start doing firmware updates.

I wonder how I stand on RMAing this? After all, without the working software all I have is a H100 and if I'd wanted a H100 I'd have bought one.

    Re: H100i - Problems

Let’s try this, stop Corsair Link under task manager/applications, close the SW then uninstall the software from the control panel including all the profiles, install the SW then go to Options and then click “Reset to defaults” then shutdown, unplug the USB connector from the USB header on the mobo for about 2min, then plug it back in to a different USB header, then turn the system back on and see if that makes a difference.

btw, which version of Corsair Link are you using again?

    Re: H100i - Problems

Good morning (well it is for me) Greybeard thanks for the response, I must admit I wasn't expecting any at the start of the weekend.

I have solved the problem. The link I posted above was suitably comprehensive (I will be posting a big Thank You to Ripshod later) and in the end it was the change of USB header that rectified the problems. Your instructions above mirrored what I did last night.

For your information, I tried 2 versions of Corsair Link; the latest and the previous. Both failed in the same way.

A suggestion: Nearly every component I have bought comes with a manual and those manuals have a troubleshooting section at the end. The manual for this cooler doesn't have this facility and would benefit greatly from either a page of suggested options or a printed link to a dedicated help page for this product.

Edit:Right...how do I change this to "Solved".

Edit the first post in the thread, then click the "Go Advanced" option - this will let you change the thread prefix (and the title, and a couple of other things!).

    Thanks Jim.

Also note for Corsair...you've probably been told this already but the H100i elements in CL don't reopen when my rig comes out of sleep mode.
