    350D vibrations

so the mechanical drive bay vibrates creating some horrible noises. Raised a ticket a while back and got a new drive bay. Still get the issue. Raised a new ticket and have been advised to use insulation tape. Whilst the guys only trying to help, I shouldn't really need to buy and fit the tape to stop the issue. Had a corsair 800d before and it was excellent. Kinda wish I'd kept that :-(

Did we send you both the HDD cage and trays? Check the lower tray and make sure the release handle is not hitting the cases' frame, because I've seen in the past where the tray is not inserted all the way causing the tray handle to vibrate and hit frame.

Also, make sure all 4 rubber dampers on each screw are there.

Yes you did. The response from corsair support was "buy some insulation tape" :/

Assuming that you have already done that things that I have asked you to check and nothing changed, I guess my next question is has this been the case ever since you've owned the case?

    Re: 350D vibrations

to be fair it will only vibrate if something is out of balance so try isolating what drives causing it. You may need to adjust a mount to stiffen it up if the new bays the same, you know it isn't the bay so it will be a loose mount that attaches the bay to the case?

Corsair have really gone downhill in build quality, my new 900D is shocking quality wise compared to the old 800D,

I am on the 2nd and have already had to place foam pads on the front panel as it is loose as hell due to poor clip design.

Marcvs has mentioned this and told me that you are having some problems with the case like him. Looks like there are multiple parts in the case that needs some tlc. Send me a PM and let me know what needs to be done to address those said issues.

I was really leaning towards the HDD being the reason why the cage is vibrating in a way that its causing the noise. But it should have been the case from the beginning, so I need to know if this is a recent issue or it's been the case since.

The HD is a western digital. Yes it has always done it until I got annoyed and raised the ticket. It should not vibrate and I should not have tinker to stop it :-/

I probably sound unreasonable but hey ho.

My money was on a Samsung drive, mine always used to vibrate or rather hum and hum at a noise level that used to drive you around the twist and make you want to go running at the pc with a hammer! Or was that just me hmmm

You're far from being unreasonable, I totally understand where you're coming from. I know that you don't have to tinker to stop it, but you may have to in this case since replacing the drive trays does not solve the vibrating noise. How fast are those WD drives?

    Re: 350D vibrations

If it's only one drive then it shouldn't be vibrating at all, unless of course the drive is spinning in an unusual way.

Since replacing the trays and cage didn't solve the issue, it's probably best that you find the actual source then see if you can figure out a way to eliminate the noise by using other means, such as any type of dampening material.

I wish I could tell you exactly what you need to do to solve this, but without seeing the situation in person, all I can do is suggest possible solutions.

Do you want to give a replacement cage/tray another shot?
