Housing an ASUS HD7970 CUII TOP

    Hi Guys,

I'm seriously considering the Air 240 for a new build but have read that it might have width issues with my current GPU. Can you confirm that the ASUS HD7970 CUII TOP will fit please. I will be using an ASUS Maximus VII Gene if that helps.

    Thanks

    AtB

I have the larger case so probably couldn't comment on size of the 240 but these are awesome cases to work with.

No but was just saying they are good cases to work on seeing as you are considering a new build using one. :/

Thanks...do I take it you have worked on one then? I expect airflow is good but they could get a bit noisy if the fans aren't the quiet type.

Hi, yes I have the 540 which is the larger version of that case. Airflow is really good. The stock fans were ok but I replaced them with be quiet fans.

Bump: Corsair, I would appreciate it if you could give me some sort of "official" response to my question.

Fair enough...looks like it's going to be a Fractal Node 804 or the Lian Li V359 then

Re: Housing an ASUS HD7970 CUII TOP

Sorry for not responding to your post sooner. I've been out for the past two weeks.

It's probably late, but the answer is, that card will not fit. It's too tall, it'll hit the side panel. The case will only support up to 120mm.

Re: Housing an ASUS HD7970 CUII TOP

Thank you for the response. I had guessed that this was going to be the answer.

I love the GPU for it's quiet and cool operation, but it does cause all sorts of difficulties when choosing a new case.
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.

Re: Housing an ASUS HD7970 CUII TOP

No problem at all. That story reminds me of my 680 DCII card, ran into some fitment problems with several of the SFF cases available at that time.
