Attention all ye gamers. Dell is shipping overclocked systems!

That's right. The liquid-cooled XPS 710 HC2 uses patent-pending cooling that'll see QX6700-equipped systems leave the factory at 3.2GHz. It has a lot more besides.

I love the engineeriong of it, even if I would never get one (or be able to even afford one).

If I built that system, there would be tubes and wires everywhere.

Not the first time they've overclocked however, I believe the XPS 600 special edition (The one with the flames down the side) had a Pentium Extreme Edition 955 running at 4.26GHz.

This looks a lot tastier though

    A couple of issues.

1: That nforce 590 Mobo is kinda gimped re real overclocking. Other than change the multiplier, any changes (fsb, ram frequency, timings) have to be changed via software (ie ntune).

2: Dell allready uses the 680 for the 720. XPS700 and XPS710 owners (of the regular air-cooled variety) have allready been sold 680s as "upgrade packages" to rectify the rather indifferent performance of the 590.

Well, that's one big issue really. The watercooled/peltier thing is a neat gizmo, but the air cooled one already worked well. It's a big show to hide the fact that they don't have a real quality btx mobo. Yes, these are all btx by the way, so forget about upgrading it later. the whole system will have to be thrown away in a couple of years, unless the dead form factor makes a magical comeback.
