    Amateur Homemade Server Cabinet

Made this because flashing lights were getting on my nerves!

Spraypainted black with a few fixes and modifications...

Just need to buy a metal mesh to cover the fans on the back now.

nice cabinet - the best I saw was at one of our remote sites in Guam - the Admin there was an ex cabinet maker. They had the most beautiful hardwood cabinets with fretwork doors

Here's a sugestion for you, look on the back of that power strip you've got next to the cabinet, they commonly have sloted hole thingies on the back (cannot think what they are correctly called)
what you can do is put some screws into the one of the sides of the cabinet on the inside, don't screw them all the way in but leave the heads sticking out.
You can then hang the power strip on the screws and tidy that away inside as well

Oh an a quick question, I see you've got 6 fans at the back sucking air out, but where is the air getting sucked in from? ie where is your vent?

On the front door I have left a door support out, that leaves around a 3-4cm gap for air to travel in. I will be using black sealant soon to close any other holes up so that the air is coming from the front.

It seems to be working well as my NAS ambient temps are 35c

    Re: Amateur Homemade Server Cabinet

It might be worth cutting some vent-holes on the front and backing them wish mesh too - when I was messing around with my case side panels I sat the case with the open side ~ 3cm from the edge desk and found that limited the airflow enough to keep the CPU over 7 degrees hotter than when the case was completely open! So with only a small gap and 6 exhaust fans you might find that your airflow is being quite restricted

Or, since you want to avoid the flashing lights, how about cutting 3 fan holes on each side of the cabinet, near the front, with very slow-spinning intake fans, so you get plenty of cool air pulled in from the sides near the front?
