    Any Cosmos II equivalents?

    Hi guys,

After upgrading my system and rebuilding it into my 4 year old Cosmos I could see several limitations of the original Cosmos and to name a few, cable management, no USB 3.0 front panel, solid motherboard tray and no 2.5" drive bays.

Now I do like the look of the Cosmos II but not sure I could justify the £250-£300 price tag, so are there any other cases out there that are in the same sort of league but not as pricey?

I could probably justify upto £150.

    Thanks.

I presume you want an all aluminium chassis? if you are you could consider Lian Li series.

    Re: Any Cosmos II equivalents?

Externally good I/O options, my new board has 3x USB 2.0, 2x USB3.0 20pin and Firewire headers also FP audio from my X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro.

Good dust protection and good sound deadening is also a must.

I prefer negative pressure cooling, must have space for 120/140mm fans.

The bigger and heaver the better as it won't be moved much and would make it hard to steal if anyone ever broke in.

Plenty of 3.5" and a couple 2.5" drive bays.

    Good cable management.

Good build quality and no sharp corners.

Basically I want a Cosmos II.

If Coolermaster sold an upgraded front panel for the original Cosmos that would probably tide me over which is probably the reason why they don't.

Personally love my HAF X, 2 X 2.5" bays, 2 X Hot swappable 3.5/2.5" bays, 2 USB 3 front panel connectors, front panel firewire, front panel e-sata, front audio connectors massive 240mm fans all with filters can't complain tbh.

+1 HAF X, the filters that come with it are ok but if you do get one, you should get after market ones from Demciflex. Also it has plenty of cooling and lots of space for fans. X4 200mm and x1 140mm as exhaust. I zip tied another 120mm into the HDD rack for more cooling lol

The fractal XL is the way to go if you want something sleek and simple,
If not the HAF X is a good choice

Take a look at the CM Storm Trooper/Stryker, but if you wanted silence, the only case I can recommend is the Fractal Design Define XL.

    Re: Any Cosmos II equivalents?

    Thanks for the suggestions guys.

None of the current Lian Li range I like, besides they are mostly overpriced for what they are and can have some serious design issues.

The HAF X and Storm Trooper/Stryker I would consider if I were younger and the Define XL could do with a couple more FP USB ports.

No I have not seen this before and looks very promising, seems to share the same OEM as the GELID Solutions DarkForce but is much better looking.

Some reviews of the standard version (can't find any for the silenced version):

    Corsair Obsidian 650D

Great price and the best cable management considerations I have seen in a case. I needed to build a game server desktop and didn't want to spend the $$$ on another TJ-07 yet wanted excellent cooling properties. This case was superb and I would buy again.
