Quiet 120mm fans?

I like my new Thermaltake Tsumani case apart from the noise from the case fans.

Having had a look around there are a few candiates for replacement:

1. Vantec stealth from Overclocker's

2. Akasa - 2 types, Ultra Quiet and LED fans

The pabst fans from Tekheads are supposed to be good but the prices are ridiculous.

Any suggestions?

BTW, does anyone know the spec for the Tsunami's fans? They seem to be 2000RPM but I have no idea how much air they move.

Try noiseblockers from whispertec or wherever else has them. The S2's are good. Very quiet with good airrflow.

None of those fans that you mentioned are 'quiet' fans.

You need to be aiming for different breed of fans althogether if you want quiet:-

1. Nexus 120mm
2. Acoustifan
3. SilenX
4. Pabst 120FGL (undervoted to 7v)

Thanks for the replies guys.

Any suggestions for suppliers? Tekheads have a couple of panaflows but they are the high airflow rather than quiet ones and I can't find suppliers for Nexus and SilenX.

I quite agree. I assume that the noise level is off or they used a non-started measuring methodology. I'm wondering what db/A means. I find the complete lack of information available on the web about them puzzling too.

I emailed Whispertec and got a response from Mark saying that the R120L is quieter than the Noiseblockers (he didn't specify which).

The fans in my old case (Coolermaster 201C) are YS-Tech silent (8125?) which are supposed to be 80mm, 27CFM and 20db. They are quiet but no where near 20db. They are the quietest fans I have to compare the R120L to.

Noiseblockers are normally very good - have used a few
Currently running panaflos and feel they give the best noise/flow ratio for me. My 80mm running full speed are virtually silent. My 120s running on rheobus are very quiet as well (yet still pushing LOTS of air)

The fans are installed and I am impressed. They are very quiet and seem to give quite good airflow. By far the loudest fan is now the CPU (AMD retail 70mm) which even when running at 1600RPM is far louder than the PSU or the two case fans. In all it's significantly quieter than my old Collermaster 201C, although the GFX fan was louder.

They are 3 pin only though so draw all their power from the mobo which might be a problem for some.

I bought some of these rubber plug things, which I thought were washers to sit around the screws but they are long and thin with a larger bit in the middle. Any ideas what I'm supposed to do with them!?

I think I found the spec for the fan that comes with the case:

It's the one on the right (sleeve rather than ball bearing). It's no wonder the new fans is so much quieter, 38dB!!
