If you really want a noticeable increase, I would suggest to stretch to a 7950 for around £250. This gives you plenty or VRAM to play with, and a great gpu.

I would go crossfire meaning you dont need to go about selling the current one which you will lose money on over the original price.

Sorry for the late reply but the problem lies in overheating. My current GPU overheat easily even when im controlling the fan. If i change the percentage of the fan controller though the catalyst it just sounds like a hoover and i just cant stand it while im gaming. But my price price range has changed and im going with the Palit 2GB GeForce GTX 670 JetStream, the only one i can see that had duel fan and perfect in the price range. I would have got the 680 but ill most probably bottleneck it due to my CPU. The TV was actually bought for my Xbox360 but i barely touch it now because i have my own gaming system, so instead of me spending even more money on getting monitor and trying to figure out what im going to do with this one i just chose to stick to my TV even though most people slap me in the face for it But unlike most people i just don't see any flaw in it. The reason why i replied to your post so to let user's know this matter is know resolved

First off, welcome.

Secondly, what is wrong with your card? What games are you finding it holding you back on? It's not a slow card, and with one monitor, at 1920 x 1080 I am suprised you want to upgrade to what you describe as

that's what you've got already!

If you want a new toy.. and most of us do, often.. by all means blow some money on a new card, but don't expect it to make you sing with joy.... unless you do opposite of what you said. ie you must spend a lot more money to get a massively notable increase.

Assuming you sell your old card once you get the new one, you COULD get a noteable increase in performance. And you could, if you want, get an nVidia card, but AMD are very good card and sometimes slightly better value unless the entire nVidia suite of hardware does something for you.


What I think is a bit .. odd.. is that your system link says you have a Toshiba 32" monitor.. a Regza.

that's a telly.. not a monitor.

YES it's a good telly.. but if it's right in front of you, 32" screen for 1920x1080 is gonna look..... less than pin sharp. It's designed to be a telly quite a way away from you.

Maybe you should treat yourself to a specific PC monitor? if you have the space?

Well as a super duper noob i look out for compatibly, my Mobo is 2.0/PCIe and the graphics card acquired 3.0/PCIe. Im doing something wrong here ain't it? Maybe because of the lack of sleep or im sitting here for too damn long.

exact card that I have, pre-overclocked non-standard PCB with dual fans and is quiet on load. I'm planning to get a second to run in SLI, I love it and since it's dropped £100 since I bought it. BARGAIN.

Or alternatively buy a second of your current card, that should make you smile a bit.

Going from an oc @ 950/1150 6850 myself to 7850 which is not oc'd. the difference was massive. in unigine 6850 max fps was 99 and my 7850 hitting 136. my 7850 runs over 10deg cooler, less power and as I only play racing style games, all in ultra, 4xAA with vsync, it never drops below 60fps. if you can afford the 7870 as they are now just over £200, get that but with the 7850 as low as £150, its a lot of performance for your money.
