ZOTAC adds readout LEDs to GeForce 8600GTS. Cool or not?
New kid on the graphics-card block, as far as NVIDIA's GeForce series is concerned, is ZOTAC, with a GeForce 8600 GTS product that carries LEDs showing the temperature of the board and the GPU.
![]() Find out more about ZOTAC in this COMPUTEX 2007 headline. |

@starbuck Would it be possible, d'you reckon to use a fan with lightweight LED's attacked to the blades which blink to show a preprogrammed (or in this case realtime) message?
In theory you could do it with one blade covered in those little LEDS and it'd be able to show what the temperature is.. Hmm, you'd need to connect it to another port somewhere though..

![]() i dunno i dont really like it, having one on the cpu? if the mobo had a section of led's to show the temps of all parts then that would be cool. but for parts it seems too much. btw i like the green computex layout. makes a change from the hexus orange

I think it's a great idea, my gfx card (soon to be replaced) varies between 80 and 130C when playing 3d games. It would be nice to see the temperature without switching to the desktop and display properties.
Or the simpler solution I guess is just to get a decent gfx card in the first place

![]() But doesn't this depend on where your case is? Mine's sort of above my monitor on a shelf part of my desk and so i'd probably have use for something like this - as i can easily see the gfx card through the window. A front panel would be easier if my case was in the normal tray
