Computex 2006 - Taipei : DFI LANParty nForce 590 SLI Intel Edition
We managed to grab some quality time at DFI's HQ in Taipei, Taiwan and came away with some shots of the very first LANParty nForce 590 SLI Intel Edition motherboard.
Check it out in this Post-Computex 2006 Headline. |

Will the NF5 chipset be anywhere near as hot and un-overclockable as the NF4? I mean the P5ND2-SLI was a nightmare, CPUs would go 500mhz faster and 100mhz greater on the FSB with a 955 or 975x chipset - is NF5 any different?

looks like this will be very eagerly awaited!
Price wise though, i wont be able to afford a decent upgrade until the end of the year so i will be filling up with grief (and cheap beer) early august when my bank balance shows up a nice pretty red colour on the whole in the wall. However it will interesting to see what people think about Conroe once it's been released, so i can condole myself over that at least ![]() |

Principles of Digital PWM
This circuit has TV1115 chip In the picture of this DigitalPWM, on the right there is that VT1115 controller, which has quite fast DSP power to get direct voltage level feedback from capasitors behind the inductor bridge. Before, PWM were often created with slow analog circuit whitch needed huge electrolyte capators. This digital PWM really is measuring the processor hungry every 1.5 MHz cycle it switches those five FETs. It can increase or decrease the switch on time in the very moment the CPU starts to draw more juice out from those tiny capacitors there can now exist. The www.voltera.com doesn't give any specs from their technology without NDA, but there is in Products page a mention about VT1000-series that can burst continuously 100A @ 1.3V. A bit googling around I found this Vitec inductor bridge, the huge DIP chip there, which just happen to mention the correct VT1115 chip name in application example. So, we have a big new friend for overclockers in this VT1115 chip. Just put a some megaohm pull-down resistors to feed-back line, and the VT1115 will keep the Vcore voltage a bit higher for these DUALCORE2 beasts! |

Wow syke interesting and informative post, so lets hope this board lives up to the hype......personally I have tried too many things as a guinea pig so I will wait for the general consencus before trying NF5, only if this platform can offer significant performance increase over 975x/X1900XTX, then I would consider moving back to Nvidia.
I wonder, could you run Crossfire on this board? I reckon the next generation of Nvidia cards would be the main reason to move back to NF5 and get SLI, its really down to the graphics card manufacturers, at the moment it seems pretty equal. |
