    Good Cheap 32" LCD TV

So my mum's TV just went on the blink over the weekend so for Christmas I was thinking I'd get her a replacement TV.

I suppose budget should be around the £300 mark but I have no idea if there is anything decent in this price range.

Built in Freeview would be top notch too

Oh and simple to use...the most my mum ever uses is "Channel Up/Down" and volume

I can work out connections for the DVD player

I've seen a couple of LGs for just over £300 but there are a few brands I have never heard of below that price bracket.

Some form of warranty would be top too.

    Thanks in advance!

I think the 4 series samsung is well regarded and can be found for £330-350. I would not buy a no-name TV or spend any less than the price of the sammy or LG you mention, if only because support will be better for the big names.

    Thanks menthel.

Not to sound dumb but...how do I tell the 4 series sammy TV from the rest?

For example, I am seeing models like this "Samsung LE32R87BDX 32in".

Sleepyhead - Samsung 32a456 is the one you want to look out for

(4 in the model number corresponds with the series)

Oh, and just got the Sony 32V4000 for the parents. I managed to pick it up with a HomeCinema set - DAVD260 iirc, and a glass stand for £469 from Currys. Given the TV was supposedly £399 and the HTK £199, plus the glass stand £150, that wasn't a bad deal me thinks...

I would Have to recommend the Sony Bravia 32V4000. Picked one up for £360.00 recently and was amazed by the picture quality of this set.

Re: Good Cheap 32" LCD TV

32V4000 is a good telly, had a play with the parent's set, and it seems to do everything one could want.

I personally have a Toshiba 32c3035, which I've had just over a year and been perfectly happy with, but the Samsung 32a456 has fallen dramatically in price. Oh, and manufacturers are predicting large scale rises in price (Sony - 30&#37 due to the changing exchange rate.

    Bargain!

I have this TV and paid a little under £400 for it back in June, it was well worth it then and now it is nearly £300 it really is a good deal.

Re: Good Cheap 32" LCD TV

I got my mum a nice Samsung 32" 4 series LCD TV for the princely sum of £297. I forget the complete model number but I think it's LE32A457C1DXXU. Mum is well pleased with the purchase, thanks for the recommendation on this TV.

The sales guy was trying to get me to spend £500 on a 1080p TV...the most mum ever used the TV for is Freeview and DVDs.

My bad, forgot about my own thread

I purchased it from Comet. It's a 720p TV though so if your uncle wants 1080p it's not gonna help.

If Comet still have them for less than £300 (when i collected it, they bumped their price up to £350), wall bracket plus the TV will be well below £400.

All I did was search the big named stores, Argos, Comet, Curries etc. and see who came up best. It was luck that Comet was the first place I went to and had the best price (as well as incoming stock).
