Sky remote no longer working

I am trying to use this Sky remote



with this Sky+HD box



It just suddenly stopped working after the new EPG update and now won't sync. I changed batteries and pressing buttons just blink and nothing else happens. I googled a bit and different people are talking of different button combinations.

Anyone has had any experience with both of these ?

Try all combinations.

Try remote with a different old/HD box

Try box with a different remote.

Give up and buy new remote

Have you tried unpluging the HD box for a couple of minutes as sometimes the HD boxes can freeze on a channel.

Yup, tried it. I just did some programming with button combos and Sky remote now controls TV...

Have you tried to reset your remote control


To Reset Sky remote control to operate the Sky+ box:

Place the Sky Remote Control on a flat surface such as the floor or a coffee table.
Press the tv button.
Press the select button and the yellow button together until the light at the top of the Navigator flashes twice.
Press number 1.
Press select and the red light will flash twice.
Press the sky button to return to Sky mode.

To Reset Sky remote control to operate the set top box:

Point the Sky Remote Control away from the TV and press the tv button.
Press the select button and the blue button together until the light at the top of the Sky Remote Control flashes twice.
Press the select button.
Press the sky button and then point the Sky Remote Control back at the TV.

Press interactive on your Sky remote control.
Highlight 'Sky Active' (option 1) and press select.
Highlight 'Help Centre' (using the left/right arrows if necessary) and press select.
Use the up/down arrows to highlight 'Set up my Sky' remote and press select again.
You will see a loading page, then the four-step 'Remote Control Assistance' instructions will appear on your screen

I have tried everything and all combinations.

So, far the most successful is the SELECT+Blue combo. With this all buttons except the direction and number buttons work. Guess, it's time for anew remote!

Get a Logitech Harmony. They are very good and you can control more than one hardware with it.

My sisters HD remote stopped working altogether a few weeks back, found out that taking one of the batteries out and then holding down select on its own for 60 seconds did the trick after putting the battery back in.

whats it like if you point the remote at a camera phone, does the IR blink bright or dim ?

The hold the button down trick often works for telly remotes too, but its generally the power button.

Just got one off eBay for £8 ( most likely fake , but a very good fake ) and all working OK
