    Kindle 4 vs Paperwhite.

So I'm about to buy Kindle and the dilemma is whether to get one now i.e. Kindle 4 or wait for the Paperwhite release in the UK?

I have been reading some worrying comments on Amazon.com about how the backlight is distributed (via 4 LEDs at the bottom) and how you can see shadowing because of it.

What do you guys think, is it better to get Kindle 4 now so scrap the Paperwhite all together?

Kinda chicken and egg situation here.

I'm sure I'd appreciate the backlight when reading in the dark but it will definitely defeat the purpose if the backlight is poorly/unevenly distributed on the screen.

    Opinions?

    backlight on the kindle.

    Don't see the point.

One of the things I find important when using a laptop, tablet, hell even a phone is ambient light. It's more relaxing when your in an environment which has good ambient light.

That's why I don't care for the backlights, its about my comfort, and battery life too. But even when camping, I'd sooner hang a center lamp, and read by that, than a backlight.

£69 for the 2012 Kindle 4. No brainer I'd say. You can buy a nice led light that uses AAAs for another £10.
