Quite a cool little kickstarter project

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...-locked-always

I like this idea, it's cheap, and simple. The idea is to have little door sensors (reed switches I guess) that you can easily mount and monitor with your phone. This way you can get a warning if you've left the window open or similar, plus you could turn it into a complete basic alarm system. It's very cheap I think compared to what you'd pay for a DIY fit alarm system, and has some really cool possibilities.

I've pledged anyway, obviously like any kick starter it's a risk, but it's a simple concept, it shouldn't be hard to execute, this isn't like some twits thinking they can make an LED light bulb better than say Phillips, when there are million dollar competitions for anyone who can as it's so hard........

This is one of those ideas that makes me think, hmm yeh, I could nock up a prototype for that in a couple of hours, cool idea, cheap.

Yeah, I've not done anything with bluetooth 4 stuff, fancy. I've gone for the bridge, as I'd want it to be internet connected anyway.

Don't need them in my current flat but I do like the idea. Might pickup the pack for my parents and set it up on dads iPhone

Nice, I wouldn't mind buying one for my gran's house, would be nice to make sure that her windows are locked at night. Wonder how much a kit will cost on release.

Hard to say, but this one is quite cheap, and technologically not very hard. That's why I've taken a punt and gone for the kick starter.

When you look at the cost of a simple reed/hall-effect sensor then look at what a lot of home automation / alarm systems charge, it's quite a bargain. Yet I also think quite achievable, unlike say some of the LED bulbs we've seen on Kickstarter.

I took the £90 option, 10 sensors, WiFi bridge. I think that's very good value when I looked at the other options. Again I like their confidence that the bridge is much more expensive to produce. The sensors themselves are cheap, just using off the shelf parts.

I caved in and went for the £65 option, I need the hub for it to be a worthwhile option. Hope the kickstarter is successful, seems like a neat piece of kit

Re: Quite a cool little kickstarter project

Looks like it didn't make the kickstarter (it was quite a while ago).

I think it might be coming back though - at some point:
    http://www.qllondon.com/lila.html
Unless that page is a left over from the first attempt. iPhone 5C is listed as compatible, that's a recent one, right? (not a fancy phones person )

Re: Quite a cool little kickstarter project

Hiya, I'm Rob from QL and I just found this thread while googling our LILA campaign. Good to see lots of positive comments

Just thought I'd let you know we are back on KS now with a few extras and we're 80% funded with 17 days to go. I don't have enough of a post count to put the link here but I'm pretty sure it's the only project on KS called LILA so shouldn't be hard to find if you want to check it out.

    All the best - Rob
