iPlayer on Smart TV is very jerky

    Hi all

A while ago I bought a Hitachi 4k tv and I have to admit to being in love with it. It plays 1920 x1080 stuff beautifully and HD tv channels on the built in tuner are lovely.

It's wifi and it runs You Tube like a star (though from power on to being usable online is about 60 seconds, though the TV works immediately)
I can watch utube 4k UHD demos no worries.

However, what I have found is that iPlayer, is jerky. It's not immediately apparent..... but you can tell it's not hitting the right fps.
My initial thought was "wifi bandwidth" so I knocked iPlayer image quality down to the lower setting.

It was identical. Jerky in the same way.. and not jerky enough for my young lad to notice, but Sair and I notice it.

So .. I ran a Cat45 to it.. same thing.

Having spent a little time online I think it's because the latest iPlayer seems to be quite a CPU hog and the built in processor isn't quite up to the job. Lets be clear, this isn't a buffering issue. I never get the wheel of doom... or egg timer etc... it just jerks on busy scenes. And now I know it's not the wifi bandwidth as the cable direct to the router does it too.. I'm a bit saddened

    While it's watchable ... it's a small let down.

Anyone else got a smart TV with Iplayer jerking about a bit?

Sorry. Still on 720p in my house. Albeit with a WDLive...
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.
