    Headphones for child - 2 1/2 yo

Hi, we're taking my 2 1/2 year-old on a big big plane for the first time this summer, and in order to keep him entertained, we wanted to get him some headphones so he can use my tablet. I've had a brief look but a lot of complaints with the ones aimed at kids seem to be about flimsiness.

Anyone been in the same position and found a pair that were decent SQ and quite robust?

When you find some please let me know. My 3yr old has some THomas the Tank ones and they're ok but as you say look a bit flimsy and he doesn't really like wearing them.

I tried a few, cheap crap were as expected and got binned. Ones with reduced volume went back as they were so quiet you wouldn't have heard a thing on the plane. I ended up with these and she has never complained in the 3 years she has owned and abused them They still work and look great.

You can also get volume apps that limit the max so I have that on unless we are flying then it's full whack so she can hear.

She was 3 and is now 6, they still fit great.

Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack
off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

Re: Headphones for child - 2 1/2 yo

One word of warning would be concerning noise cancelling cans for kids - DONT.

Noise cancelling works by feeding an antiphase signal into the cans to phase cancel surrounding noise, this actually INCREASES the volume of sound going into the ears.

They do sort of acknowledge this in the link above from Smudger :

    "Noise-cancelling headphones for noisy environments
Kidz Gear justified its separate volume limiter by sugegsting that volume-limited headphones aren't loud enough in noisy environments such as inside airplanes. That might be true but pumping extreme volumes into a child's ears to cancel out the hum of an aeroplane surely isn't the answer. You might as well put them next to the jet engine outside."

Shame that no *proper* can mfrs do kids versions, I'd love to see a pair of Koss or Sennheisers for kids...
    Cheers, David
