Which headphones?

Hi Folks,

Currently looking for a new pair of headphones. I think I would prefer over ear than inner ear this time.

A few features I would like but aren't priority:

Wireless
Noise Cancelling

Priority =

Sound Quality!

Current ones I am looking at:

• Sony MDR10RBT
• Sony MDR-1A
• Sony MDR-100AAP
• Sennheiser Momentum 2.0
• Audio-Technica ATH-M50X

Any help is appreciated. I basically want the best I can get (sound biggest priority) for the money. £150 tops unfortunately.

Wireless and NC both detract from quality, so you have to decide what the priorities are.

The better Sennheisers will always get my vote, see if you cant pickup a cheap 2nd hand HD series, HD600, HD580 are still the best bang for buck IMHO.

I'm out of touch with current models, but agree with above comments about priority.

I'm also not a fan, albeit based on out-of-date listening, of Sony.

I agree with the Sennheiser recommendation, with one caveat, and I would add AKG to the list of potentials.

The caveat is that, like speakers, headphones tend to have a 'sound' and different people like different things. The result is that there is no easy way to say this one's better than that one, because what sounds better to me, or to g8ina and me, might not be what sounds better to you.

My very firm advice, neon, would be to by all means get a short list from here, but then haul your butt to a half-decent shop (I recommend Richer Sounds if you can get to one) and LISTEN.

There really is no substitute. After all, I'm listening with my ears, and you're listening with yours. So never mind what I/we like. What sound pleases you? Buy that set.

Thanks guys, tried a few local shops here in Falkirk but they don't have any demoing of headphones (they don't have any good ones anyway). I have also came across the B&O PLAY by Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6.

I agree it would be best to test in person. BUT, I don't know if I will have the option to do this or not

Sooooo. Just bought the B&O PLAY by Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6

Found them for £148 on Amazon which seemed like a really good deal. I hope I like them . . . . :O
