H60, 500R Question.

Hi guys,

I currently have a Corsair 500R which is just a great case, can't fault it. I'm looking to get a H60 soon and was wondering could I use the 120mm rear exhaust fan that comes with the case on the H60 and therefore have a push pull setup?

Or perhaps is it better to go for a H80? I find that it's quite large though and seems to stick out a bit.

You could use the back fan, although that particular fan may not be the best for a watercooled cpu block as apparently from what i have heard u need a fan with good static pressure, corsair have released some nice new high pressure fans that according to reviews are good for radiators due to the fan design being able to push air through restricted places such as radiators.

I use a H60 myself although with a different fan as the push, the name of which i cant say on here but the new corsair SP series of 120mm fans are suppose to be rather good for that, semi tempted to try one myself.

H80 also has a thicker radiator (H60 - 27mm, H80 - 38mm) which aids cooling. It also has variable pump settings (3 speed button on the cooling block).

If you can afford it and it's easy enough to do, then I would suggest getting the H80 and installing it in the front of the case to occupy the space that would be taken by three 5.25 inch drives (I think the 500R can hold four drives), this might also mean sacrificing one of your 3.5 inch slots but it does mean you get a cleaner looking interior without the rad potentially blocking the view from the window or any side fans should you be able to add those. If budget is an issue the H60 with an additional fan would be a good alternative. Also with the rad at the front you could use an LED fan to create a lighting effect at the front of your case. I'm considering either the Enermax Red UR Vegas fans or Silvertone AP121 Red LED fans for the front of my case, where I have my H50 at the moment. The Silverstone fans have 1.71mmH2O static pressure, I can't find details of the static pressure given out by the Enermax fans, but when you have fans right up against your rad, static pressure will be more important than CFM, as high CFM with low static pressure means that not enough air will go through the rad.
