    H100i now idling at 46°

Hi, I turned my comp on today and my cpu temps have shot up.

Yesterday i was idling at around 28° average cpu and 25° h100i, but today its at 46° cpu and 41°
    h100i.

I have a 4670k which was oc at 4.2ghz. I have dialled it back to 3.2ghz with no change.

I replaced the tim about 5 moths ago when i installed 2 extra fans on the radiator.

Also, changing the fan speeds on the radiator from 700rpm to 2000rpm makes no difference to the temperature.

The pump is running at 2314rpm

The only change on the computer was a new driver download for nvidia geforce experiance, which i installed yesterday.

I have had the h100i since november 2013.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

That certainly sounds like a cooler failure. Have you tried reseating it ?
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Re: H100i now idling at 46°

Hi Phage, I've decided on stripping my case apart on sunday and give everything a good clean.

Would you know if it's possible that you could get trapped air in the pipes ?

I hate having to reapply the thermal paste as I suffer from hand tremors, it took my 5 attempts to get it right last time.

    Hi Mermoden,
Assuming that you have trapped air in the loop, I don't think that it will affect your cooler's performance. Perhaps noise issue, but it shouldn't affect your CPU temp.

We know your pump is running because of the reading your getting from Link (assuming you have it installed), and the fact that your CPU temp is still under 60°C on idle. Otherwise, it would have gone up already and hover around 90°C if your pump has ceased to function. I would try what Phage suggested, reseat it and make sure that you have a full contact between CPU and coldplate. And I do recommend that you re-apply a fresh TIM when you remount the cooler.

Re: H100i now idling at 46°

    Quick update.
    Temps are back to normal.

Stripped the case apart and cleaned every component.
Remounted the cooler using EK-TIM Indigo XS. Very nerve wrecking going through that process.
Switched the comp on after the 30min cool down and the cpu temp is idling at 30° and there is only a 3° difference between the h100i and cpu, previously it was 5°.

Would change the post to resolved, but cant remember how !

Yes, I am often checking the temperature - Overclocking a bit on my Z87 -i7 is great - but MMOG and graphics rack the temp up, and I fell less in control of the H100i - while also loving the cooling effect. Long my it continue! idle - 31*°C
