    H100 Fan Question

    Hi,

Looking to change the fans on my H100, looking at changing them to Corsair fans however the question I want to know is, does the H100 pump take PWM fans or standard 3 pin fans?

    Thanks
    Jon

Cool! Are you planning to change the stock fans on your H100?

That's exactly the ones I would use myself If I were to change those stock fans to an aftermarket ones

    Re: H100 Fan Question

Ah... Had you not already ordered, I'd have suggested some Noctua ones - Either the standard type, or the Redux if budget was an issue.
I found the SP QE very quiet, but also greatly lacking in performance, which is when I first got into Noctuas.

Either way, keep the fans that came with the H100 - I found they came in handy later on!

    Re: H100 Fan Question

I looked at the Noctua but couldn't get on with that colour scheme, what were they thinking! Lol.

I will keep hold of them.

Or maybe just do something like this :-

    The Redux ones are better.

TBH, though, if you play in the dark like me then the beige ones just reflect whatever colour LEDs you have in the case!

    Re: H100 Fan Question

Haha indeed and did you see those temps? -20 degrees!

Well mine are installed and as expected nice and quiet and min temps are now 20/21 which is pretty good. CPU is a non-overclocked i5 2500k.

Pump is making an odd sound like it did when first installed so hopefully that will quieten down at somepoint.

    Very happy with the fans.

Edited : Sound not the same as pump noise, that sound went after a few minutes.

    Re: H100 Fan Question

Not the pump. Seems to be a noisy bearing in a fan :/ Turned off each fan in turn, one of them when turned off the sound stopped.

    Re: H100 Fan Question

Well this isn't too good, both fans out off the cooler and both silent, place back on and noisy, seems to be a vibration issue.

Not good really, Corsair Air 540 case, top mounted H100 with Corsair SP120 Quiet edition fans and annoying vibration sound.

    Re: H100 Fan Question

Here's a video of the sound, just imagine that but louder. Sorry about the quality :-

Update : Removed from case, couldn't take that sound anymore. Stock fans back in and no noise.

    Re: H100 Fan Question

That sounds horrible.. its like something is loose and keeps rattling.

Try pushing the center of the blade frame where the Corsair logo is against the housing, it's probably a little loose in the middle.

    Re: H100 Fan Question

    Hey Greybeard,

I opened a ticket at Corsair and they said the same thing so I tried that and it was still the same.

Having a look around the net, seems a few people have had the same issue, no one really got to the bottom of what the problem was but all in the end had to remove the fans, which I have currently done.

They were lovely and quiet as well except for that awful sound, and honestly it just drives you up the wall after a few minutes, at least in that video it stopped when the video finished lol.
