Corsair HX520W 'V2' PSU at Scan and PCIe cables

    Hi,

Can someone please explain what the 'V2' version of this PSU is? It is advertised here at Scan:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=446788

Also on a maybe related question, do these PSUs now come supplied with both 6Pin and 8Pin PCIe modular cables?

    Cheers,

    Mike

There is no V2 or new revision of our PSUs. We are asking SCAN to change that for us. It may simply be a typo.

The latest PSUs are going out with the 8 pin connectors. There is no way yet to tell which you get until you open the box however, most of the ones with 6 pin only should be sold out of the channels by now. If you get a PSU without the cable you need, I have a sticky here in the PSU section detailing how to get one if you cannot get it directly from SCAN.

Another thing that is in need of an update is the connectors listed for both the 520W and 620W versions - it's a bit different to what's listed by Corsair and may put people off.

For example, the HX620w listing on Scan is:

    1 x 4pin ATX 12V
    8 x 4pin Molex
    2 x 6pin PCI-E Power
    1 x 6pin Workstation
    2 x FDD Power
    4 x SATA Power

Whilst the listing on Corsair is:

    4-pin +12V connector and 8-pin EPS12V connector

2 x 800mm 4-pin peripheral power connector cables with three connector heads.
2 x 450mm 4-pin peripheral power connector cables with two connector heads.
    2 x 550mm PCI Express connector cables.
2 x 800mm SATA connector cable with three SATA connector heads.
1 x 650mm SATA connector cable with two SATA connector heads.

1 x Y-adapter with a 4-pin female peripherals power connector at one end and two female small 4-pin Floppy power connectors at the other.
1 x Y-adapter with a 4-pin female peripherals power connector at one end and two female 4-pin peripherals FAN ONLY power connectors at the other.

    right,

just got my corsair 620w psu from OCUK

looking at the cables, the 2 PCI-E cables are 6/8 pin.

6 pin in a block, with a 2 pin extention thats fed from the normal 6 pins.

Very cool, I figured their new stock would have the 8 pin cables.
