    Old HP laptop memory upgrade

Looking to upgrade an old HP Pavilion ZE4718EA laptop.

The memory selector says use VS512SDS266 only which are rated at 2.5-3-3-6

However is it possible to use VS512SDS400 as its the same price.

Can anyone confirm VS512SDS400 full timings, I'm assuming they contain the timings CAS2.0 at 133mhz, 2.5 at 166 as well as the default 3.0 at 400.

    Thanks.

The is no guarantee it will work and it will depend on your chipset and BIOS. The only way to know for sure is to install it and test.

Thanks for the reply though I'm still interested in knowing if VS512SDS400 has standard JEDEC timings programed for 133, 166 and 200mhz.

The standard OEM HP 256MB DDR SO-DIMM installed is PC2700 rated and has timings for 133 and 166mhz.

You'll need to check with RAM GUY at our forum as those are older modules. He'll have access to that information.
