Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC8500 (1066) & Abit IN9 32X-MAX

Simple question really..

Would this memory type (Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC8500) & this motherboard (Abit IN9 32X-MAX) work without any problems? Just needing varification before I go ahead & purchase

If not, could you recommend me a Motherboard that would suit that RAM.

What setting are you running it at?

2.1v thru to 2.2v and it just doesnt run stable

Try raising your north bridge voltage to about 1.45v or so.

I have just got an IN9 32X-MAX mobo plus a Core 2 Quad-Core Q6600 CPU and 4 x 1GB sticks (4GB) of this Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC8500 (1066) memory and OC Guru in the bios quotes "Estimated DDR2 Data Rate : 800.0" does this mean that this board will not run memory at 1066?

The PC all works fine but I would like to know I am getting the most out of the memory - I am building it for a friend who loves playing Supreme Commander

To get it over 800 are you overclocking it to get it to 1066 & is this board not really mean't to run at that speed?
As 8500 (1066) memory is quite new I'm getting a bit confused as to if this board (or any board now on the market) can run it at its full potential of 1066 - I need help / info !

you say you have this mobo and memory together, what does your board report and do you overclock (or change settings from default) to achieve it? (more than changing that northbridge voltage setting right?)

Slymoon, you need to change the setting in your BIOS to unlinked then you can set it up for 1066Mhz, by default it is setup running to run at 800Mhz.

Slymoon, you need to manually set your system to run the memory at 1066mhz as 4rthurs noted. You will need to set your memory voltage to 2.2v, set the RAM timings manually to 5,5,5,15 and set the memory speed to 1066.

What do you mean by "best profile"?

Best Profile is 1 of the settings in Guru. I have it on expert now.
running NB at 1.5v and its completely stable.

I think ill have to look at getting some NB Heatsinks.

running ram in GURU as Expert

And everything is running stable.

It seems BIOS Version 1.3 BETA 1 has been retracted and no longer showing as available to download, i guess there are issues with it.

I have just tried these settings:

Unlinked
FSB set to 1066 (had to type the number in a box instead of selecting it)
DDR2 Voltage 2.2v
NB Voltage 1.5v
Timings Manual set to 5-5-5-15 2T

then saved and restarted - it would always freeze the PC during POST boot-up screen and pressing restart button would then not restart the PC & bios was inaccessable, so i just had to turn the PC off & unplug for 5 minutes then startup the PC and quickly access the bios to reset those settings & save before it froze up again. I've put it back to how it originally was for now.

I am not sure which bios version I have (didn't spot it in the bios screen) but if this windows uGuru "FlashMenu" app is right then it is version 1.0 (dated 12/25/2006) so if I am using outdated (default) bios then that might be why when I tried those settings it didn't work the same as 4rthurs...right?

So do you recon a bios update is needed (any difference?) & also can any version bios be saved and restored (e.g. put back/downgraded in case of emergency) ???

That could very well be the case there were many issues with BIOS 1.0 and 1.2

This lists all the BIOS updates but you must use the DOS utility to boot outside of Windows the Windows Flash updaters has major issues and many people have had to order new BIOS chips.

I'm using beta 1.2 Beta 03. If you will clear CMOS, set to unlinked, CPU (for now) to 1066mhz, memory to 1066mhz, NBv to 1.45, and set the timings manually to 5,5,5,15, 2T and 2.2v, it should boot right up and run.

If not, try Linked Mode and set the ratio to 1:1 and try that.

I'm using BIOS 12 Official on my IN9, and i wanna know how are you guys doing with this memory.

I wanna a 1066 so i can have a 1:1 with the CPU FSB.
