Overclocking Asus M5A78L and phenom II 960T BE

    Hey guys,

Just so I dont hi jack another thread, I thought I'd start my own. Now bear with me I'm an OC noob.

I'd like to overclock my CPU a 960T BE. It's already been unlocked to 6 cores at a push of a button so easy enough then. It would seem I'm being stupid as others have stated they have overclocked their pcs with this board so I'm going wrong somewhere. I cant seem to find any relevant screen in the bios to manually adjust settings. I've just had a look and there is a OC profile section but in this screen I still cant seem to find any sub menus to change settings. Do I have to load an OC profile to overclock my pc? If so then how do I go about doing that?

If I'm being stupid forgive me, I'm willing to learn! it'd be a shame to leave this cpu vanilla as I'm sure I could easily squeeze some decent performance out of it.

And just so you know my spec and maybe it's limitations:

    ASUS M5A78L mobo
    Phenom II 960T cpu
    Hyper 212+ Evo heatsink
16gb ram (just because it was cheap, although I never seem to go over 4gb usage)
    ATI 6850 GPU
    Corsair modular 520W PSU

    Rich

A word of advice. Phenom II X6 CPUs when overclocked do consume quite a decent amount of power - in the long run I would be wary of pushing the VRMs of the motherboard you are using.

Thanks for the advice Cat. I think I'll be safe though, I just had another root around in the bios and I still cant seem to find a way to change anything anyway!

Seems like I was being a complete tool and in order to find the section to alter parameters you need to navigate to the "jumperfree configuration" sub menu and not the "OC profile" tab that I was looking at.
