    Overclocking a C2D E6420 and Asus P5W DH Deluxe

I'm not really one for overclocking much (I prefer cool and quiet systems to brute strength) but I would like to set up a profile in my BIOS that gives up to say 3.2ghz when needed for video encoding and demanding games. So any advice on the settings would be appreciated.

    Here's what I have:

Core 2 Duo E6420 2.13ghz (running at 2.4ghz with no changes to other BIOS settings)
    Asus P5W DH Deluxe
    2 x 1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 1066mhz (downclocked as the P5W does not seem to like PC8500)
    Scythe Mugen 2 heatsink
    Foxconn GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
    Coolermaster 600W PSU
    Windows 7 Pro x64

    Case is a Zalman HS1000

Excellent. Thanks to going through that guide, I've managed to boot my system at 3ghz. Seems any higher and it doesn't go for it. But that's a huge increase. Thank you.

Sadly, I can't seem to get it stable at that speed.

After much tinkering, head scratching and playing about, I have finally managed to get it to hit 3.2ghz (401mhz FSB) and run Prime95 for an hour without problem. Temp never went above 35 degrees Celsius either.

    Not a bad days work.
