    H60 & H100: Best fans

I have a Corsair H60 and may soon be upgrading to a H100. I have 2 options, 2x Alpenfohn 120 wingboost fans or 2x Silverstone AP-121 fans... Which would offer me best cooling?

I've tried to look online but can't really find anything.
or I've not looked in the right places

    thanks for any input!

I use two Silverstone Air Penetrators in push/pull and have found them to be great fans for my H50 but not really compared them to other combinations.

    Well, what do you want?

Something quiet, or something effective? If you want something effective, buy a Delta. If you want something quiet, buy any good quality fan and drop it to 5V. Obviously there's more to it than that, but as it stands you're sort of saying "I want a new car, which would offer me the best drive?"

Well not quite, he did say he has two options of choosing between 2x Alpenfohn 120 wingboost fans or 2x Silverstone AP-121 fans, so the question is not anywhere near as open as you imply.

edit *** for the records both fans were made to be silent running fans that direct air flow into a funnel shape rather than just a wide spread of airflow, something that is ideal for pushing air through the fins on a rad, so it might be fair to assume he is after a quiet but effective set of fans. Check out this video for on the Penetrators.

Indeed I should be more specific... I was asking of which out of the 2 options would be best for me?

Thanks for clarifying what I meant, basically I have the penetrators as intakes on front of my case, and not installed the alpenfohns yet. Just thought It would be easier if anyone could tell me which would be best for the H60/H100. Meaning I could be lazy and only have to do 1/2 installs instead of 3/4.

I didn't know the alpenfohns were made for funnelling air though.
if I put penetrators on h60/h100 I lose led's on front of case but if they would be better it would be a sacrifice worth making...

    Such tough decisions

Noctua focus flows are superb on the H100, been using them for another rig i done, would recommend them.

I think you're right, and I'm wrong, I just checked again and in the review I read, way back before I got my AP's, in the review it said,
The company name "Alpenfoehn" is a specific wind in the Alps.
and I rembmer reading that and somehow thought it meant they used that name as a way to describe a feature.

Nothing, these are great fans and really silent. Looking through the thread though it does look like the OP already had both sets of fans and was looking for advice on which of the two to go for. It looks like his choices were to go for the option that looked better or the one that sacrificed looks to achieve a better result in terms of lower temps.

Not sure what he decided on in the end, this is quite an old thread now, I'm kind of surprised it keeps resurfacing.

I use the Alpens on my H100, more for aesthetic value than anything else but they work great. Nice and quiet

If you want any pics, temps or anything like that let me know.

I want to order h80 with vipers, already in the basket and wanted to see if anyone had simmilar setups. Cant advise OP on those fans as i never had them unfortunately. I got thermalright ultra rev c with 140mm akasa viper now, idle 28-30, load 50-55, i think thats good temps, how do they stack up against h80? as multiple reviews show, i might not get anything with h80

The best value taking noise into consideration without losing power (in my opinion) would be the Akasa Apache S-Flow Black fans... you can get them onlline pretty easy!!

Good luck with whatever you decide its your money!!, and yes they are 120mm fans. cheers.. Lax

    Re: H60 & H100: Best fans

You should be looking at fans with high static pressure rather than high CFM. The Noctua NF-F12s are supposed to be excellent for usage on heatsinks/radiators!
