How High Are Your Ivy Bridge Overclocking Temps?

    Hi all,

Just ordered some components for an Ivy Bridge build.

I noticed the review reports of high CPU temps. in overclocking and wondered what overclocked CPU temps. are looking like for the average user.

Any feedback and/or tips on this would be appreciated.

Re: How High Are Your Ivy Bridge Overclocking Temps?

Anandtech has offered the best information that I have found.
Once your running i'd appreciate a post in the linked forum if possible, as I'm interested in real world temps and settings.
They could be from an open workbench rather than a closed case.

    Thanks for the link Scainer.

When I have my GA-Z77X-UD5 running, I'll let you know the result.

What method of temperature measurement would maintain consistency with your existing data?

That will be very interesting because you have the same CPU that I ordered.

By the way, I'm pleased to see that you are continuing the high-tech interests of the area that my dad came from (Houghton-le-Spring).

I just used CoreTemp because I've seen it used on overclocking demos.

Re: How High Are Your Ivy Bridge Overclocking Temps?

I'll also use core temp so we are getting more consistent results, the main factor in this is going to be about case, fans and the CPU cooler each of us use.

Re: How High Are Your Ivy Bridge Overclocking Temps?

I'm seeing 68-72C while fully loading (Prime) all 4 cores on my i5 3570 @4.4GHz. The ambient in the study is usually at least in the mid 20's since the wife likes the house toasty with underfloor heating. Playing around with offsets so the voltage mapping is only standard + 0.05v at the moment. Trying to sort out the GPU overclock before I mess around more with the CPU since that offers a higher performance gain in 3D games. Going for power saving over maximum overclock these days since a 5GHz CPU isn't that useful when I'm not gaming.

Re: How High Are Your Ivy Bridge Overclocking Temps?

I'm uncertain of the accuracy of Core Temp and Real Temp after seeing this article (updated to include comments from Asus on temperature monitoring for Ivy Bridge).

Has anyone else seen info that may identify a more reliable, f.o.c. Ivy Bridge temp monitor?

Correct assumption. It is a 30-day trial shareware, then $40.

Right at the end of the 3rd. page of the forum linked from the article I referenced, there was a post stating (contrary to Asus) that RealTemp was pretty accurate.

Guess it's only Asus's word on it. Realtemp was updated in Jan this year judging by their pages. And that update was for sandy bridge processors.
