    Best sub £20 CPU cooler

As per title. Best possible CPU cooler under £20.

As long it is quieter and performing better that the stock Intel cooler. And be multi-socket compatible. Found some at Scan.co.uk but would like to be sure if there are no other experiences.

Reason: been asked to advice/purchase a replacement cooler for a old 775 Pentium PC cause the stock cooler is dying and very loud.

    Zalman CNPS10X does pretty good
    Arctic Cooling Freezer 7
Arctic Alpine 11 (not too bad) or Freezer 11 low profile
Deepcool GAMMAXX 300 (Over at overclockers.co.uk)

Was thinking about Zalman CNPS10X-Optima for £17.98 or Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro V2 for £18.83. Wonder how the previous two coolers stand against Arctic Cooling Freezer 11 LP Low Profile for £10 while cooling an Pentium D 805 (SmithField, 775, 95W TPD). Both in terms of performance (no throttling while under long term load) and noise... Any ideas? Quick Google revealed nothing to me

EDIT: too bad nowhere else they sell Raijintek Aidos for £14.99 (where I would get free shipping). That cooler looks funky

Or the Loki II, which must be better, right?

Well looks like it is eBay or eBay. So eBay in the end. It is me ok Loki II seems to be less impressive on picture that Loki I. Looking at pictures on a Samsung Ace 2 ;-)

Re: Best sub £20 CPU cooler

Bonebreaker777, without a doubt, I would either get the Zalman CNPS10X Optima or the Raijintek Themis, which are, by far, better than any other cooler mentioned in this thread (for instance, compare their sizes); a Xigmatek Gaia II under £20 would also be a good option (if you can find one). Nevertheless, you should check if you have room in your case for one of these; if not, I suggest you get the Deepcool Gammaxx S40. If it is still too high, then the Loki II would be my choice.

The Coolermaster 212 EVO is only £5 more, if your budget can stretch that far?

Re: Best sub £20 CPU cooler

How about getting a second hand cooler from the bay or a forum members market? I got a Gelid Tranquillo Rev 2.0 on the OCUK MM for £12 delivered. I also got a Akasa Freedom Tower off the bay for £6 delivered. Both had all the brackets and were like new. There is little to go wrong with a cooler so there is hardly any chance of getting a duff one.

I used to have this little thing: Zalman CNPS5X Peforma. Cooled my little Athlon II X3 fine. Not sure if it'll be fine for your chip though.

Anyway, just don't buy anything with the name similar to "Ultra super amazing special frosty PC refrigerator cooling" from eBay (ha )

If it would be up the potential buyer/future owner, he would rather settle for something around £10. I myself I am happy with my Thor's Hammer passive as it is (if eBay would still have them around £15.99, this thread wouldn't be active right now, or exist at all).
