    4790K Stock Voltage?

What default/stock voltages are you guys getting with the 4790K? Mine hits 1.263V when the CPU "turbo" boosts to 4.4GHz. I've left everything on default/auto in the bios and i'm not overclocking. Does 1.263V sound a little high? I'm using an Asrock Z97 Extreme4 board (setup has been great so far ).

I've got mine running at 1.1v stable with turbo boost.

What was the default voltage when it boosts to 4.4GHz?

Unfortunately I don't know without switching it back to auto, might give it a try tomorrow and will update you once I've had a look.

    Re: 4790K Stock Voltage?

That does seem a bit high buddy, my 4690k was 0.96v rising to 1.008 on full load. I can't see the 4790k requiring that much extra volts.

Just out of interest, what's your VID show?

My 4790k is 0.727v when it's idling and reaches 1.263v under full load (@ 4.4GHz). The temps still seem fine though with it maxing out around 58C when gaming.

1.263v is the VID (under load @ 4.4GHz).

    Re: 4790K Stock Voltage?

Not idle in Windows as that shows the low power state.

What's the voltage reported in bios?

I'm guessing you should be able to undervolt that chip somewhat
I'm not insane. My mother had me tested.

The H/W Monitor section in the bios is showing 1.104v for the CPU. It seems quite a few people have 4790k chips running at around 1.26v when it boosts to 4.4GHz (if bios settings are left to auto).

AI suite is telling me it's 1.120 but I haven't tried undervolting it yet.

Is that under load when it's boosting to 4.4GHz?

Hi guys! I'm new to the forum, after having looked everywhere I found this thread which kinda helped me, and wanted to post...

My 4790K on an ASUS Z97-AR at auto/default settings is running a t 4.4GHz at 1.2v*. I first noticed the "CPU Increase" on AI Suite 3 which made me confused, since I never did want to overclock. I've uninstalled that and still get these values, so I will have to assume it's normal behaviour as part of Turbo-Boost.
Is this correct? I don't know why the boost happens automatically though, my idle CPU load is at like 3% ! Meaning I don't need any boost ATM.

    *checked with HWmonitor and CoreTemp

    Thanks to all
