    Gaming with Skylake

    Greetings

My new build a pure gaming machine planned on an ITX motherboard.

Can you offer recommendations of which Skylake processor to select with an appropriate ITX motherboard. I will be looking to OC the processor however I am keen on stability thus slightly worried about this bug I here about Skylake processors. Any advice is much appreciated.

    Current Purchased Hardware:
    PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2
    GPU - GTX 980Ti

I think with small builds a lot depends on what case you want to try and cram it all into. Have you looked at cases yet?

Processor is easy enough as you've only got a choice of two. You might as well discount the non-K models given you're clearly not aiming for a tight budget.

I can't imagine there's more than a dozen Z170 Mini-ITX boards available either. Other than overclocking what features are you after?

    Re: Gaming with Skylake

Judging by the premium components, its safe to suggest s ITX motherboard in the higher end (M.2 slot, 802.11ac WiFi, new USB 3.1).

Not really sure about the CPU over clock in the smaller case - wouldn't be safer to suggest the fastest non-K i5? God knows what cooling will be fitted there. Even seen similar components in a build and yet the CPU only got a BOX cooler, so...

The Parvum Veer he's using is a huge case, as large as most towers in volume.

Itx my bum. Like mate's mATX Corsair is big as some full ATX cases for no good reason. Unless the designers intended to be able to fit your arm in inc. elbow during installation. Still a laughing stock when he takes it for 'cleaning'.

    Re: Gaming with Skylake

To be fair it's dimensions are such that you couldn't fit a Micro ATX motherboard in there unlike some of the really big cases that only take Mini-ITX boards.

If you're only gaming, then just get the i5 6600k? It's not worth getting the 6700k if you aren't going to do video editing aswell as your gaming.
