You don't have to use EDGE with the phone - you can use GPRS... thing is how many web pages are you likely to hit without a hotspot being nearby

There's an amusing post on 9to5mac that lists all the useful 3rd-party apps that get broken by 1.1.1. It makes you realise how desperately Apple needs to release a proper SDK.
I'd like to warn you if you've unlocked your phone, do not update the apple software:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7017660.stm
They seem to have programmed the update to render unlocked phones unusable / irrepairable.
I'm not sure if it's legal, but there we go. Just a heads up folks.
I think I said this in my first post...
They have programmed the update to make it so you have to activate them again on the AT&T network and all of the 3rd party work arounds currently do not allow you to by-pass it.
The BBC don't exactly do "breaking" technology news. This has been on Engadget for a couple of days now.
Ah well, better safe than sorry![]()
Has your iphone been disabled due to the new update? It is meant to remove the unlock...
Mine is still working just fine.![]()
So is mine...
Yeah i agree.....Ive just recently got an iphone and absolutely love it
I also bought a HTC kaiser at the same time and im using the iphone a hell of alot more it just works and works very well.
I think the only thing which will make me change now is the 3g model released early next year.
Yeah but I will only move to the 3G model if it has other features such as faster, slimmer, and of course with the 3G you have to watch the battery life
