    Ideas for new gaming PC

I've been considering getting a gaming desktop for a while, but it is hard to find good builds on the net. My budget is around AU$1000 (650GBP), and I'm looking for something that will run today's games on a high setting, as well as being able to last for a while before I need to update the hardware. I am also willing to self build it, if that is a more cost-effective way to do it. Any thoughts?

I don't know anyone in Brisvegas, but I used to use these guys in Auburn, Sydney quite a bit.
    http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/
They were one of the better suppliers in Sydney and I used them just last year. The owner even gave me a lift to the station with my collection of boxes ! I smashed the quote below together very quickly, and it doesn't include a cooler for overclocking, but is in the right sort of build that you should be looking for. Comes in at AUD 985.00

If you can strectch the budget, you can upgrade to an i5 and/or an SSD like the Samsung 830 or Crucial M4.

You will need to increase your budget somewhat as you also need to include an OS.

The following parts are what I would go for.

It is also worth spending the extra on this graphics card to IMHO:

I would personally go for a higher wattage power supply, cause many of the higher power supplies are similarly priced and it's always nice to have some breathing space 'wattage-wise-

That's a really bad suggestion. There's no correlation between wattage and quality of supply, there's no advantage to having way too much wattage, and worse, there are several disadvantages.

Re: Ideas for new gaming PC

    Hi again,
I've been doing some shopping around and found a site that will custom build, and ship the pc to you for free. The setup that I've worked out is this:
    CPU: Core i7 3770 3.4GHz Ivy Bridge
    CPU Cooler: Copper/Aluminium cooler
    MoBo: All-in-one Intel H77 Board, ASUS/Gigabyte/MSI/Asrock/Intel
    Ram: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz
    GPU: GTX 660 2GB GDDR5
    HDD: 3.5" 1TB SATA III 7200rpm
Optical Drive: 24x Dual layer DVD burner
    Audio: 7.1 HD Audio
Network: 10/100/1000M Gigabit LAN + USB WiFi card
Case: IW136 (unknown actual name) w/750W Standard PSU
Monitor: 24" AOC Full HD LED monitor
    keyboard: Gigabyte GK-K6800 USB
    Mouse: Cyborg R.A.T. 7
    6-way surge protected powerboard
Warranty: 24 Months RTB warranty, lifetime tech support
Total cost: $1491.94, $1596.94 if I also get windows 7

I already have a headset, so haven't bothered with speakers

This looks pretty good to me, but I don't have much experience, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Use Dell or Customized Desktops for that with high functionality features.
