vBulletin 4 will be released soon [Screenshots and info]

The new version of the forum software we use is now available to pre-order, meaning it should be launched fairly soon. So I thought I'd pre-empt questions by written a little devblog entry.

Jelsoft are making a lot of changes to vB, perhaps the biggest of which, from our perspective, is the way pages are rendered - they've moving from the very web 1.0 table format and onto proper XHTML/CSS. This means page styles will need completely re-working, but should also make it a lot easier for us to deliver the forum on mobile devices and such.

You can get a little taste of what it'll look like from the screenshots at the vbulletin website.

As for when HEXUS will actually move to it - I can't say right now. It depends on when it's launched, what changes we need to make and whether the benefits it brings make it worthwhile. It may be the case that we wait a few minor versions before moving to it, in order to get some the additional features they'll be putting in as time progresses.

But rest assured as soon as it's available to us we'll be testing it

And know too that right now we're furiously working away on new HEXUS-wide forum integration features that'll make your HEXUS experience more seamless and exciting than ever!

The section based templating looks quite good.
