Lovely bezel on that benq, might sound odd but chunky bezels really put me off, one of the few thing I don't like about my current cheap acer monitor, the bottom of the bezel points in a design flare V shape, a plane thin even bezel might not look as "funky" but I think it looks better and if you're planning a multi monitor setup then it works far better.

Re: Awesome Gaming Monitor from Benq XL2420T

I would be very interested to know how this BenQ monitor performs regarding viewing angles etc I'm using a 19" Nec 90GX2pro and I want to jump to a 24" IPS monitor....How good is it with movies etc?

Been thinking of the Dell U2412m and the more expensive U2410, not not sure how they would perform in games though

Re: Awesome Gaming Monitor from Benq XL2420T

For gaming its one of the best, mostly FPS, games are just so much smoother i've moved up from a 19" Samsung and for me the differance is amazing. For movies its average my friend has a U2410 which is 2 yrs old and this seems better, but since then Dell have a new updated panel which looks good. u2410 colors are not as vibrant as the Benq but it does take longer on the benq to get your desired colour setup. Also remember Overclockers do their 14 back thingy, If you dont like the Benq or any other monitor you can buy the more expensive one and pay for the differance, whatever you do make sure you read the Terms and conditions.

I fired up Battlefield 3 once I had the Dell set up, and OMG does it look good!!! (using a HD6950 GFX) Not had to change any of the colour settings, which I did have to on 22" Samsung which is now a second screen.

Re: Awesome Gaming Monitor from Benq XL2420T

Yeah, Well the Benq does 120Hz once you set it to that, Battlefield and any other game for that matter is silky smooth, you have to see it to believe how much better 120Hz gaming is. The Blacks on the Benq are just spot on from BF3. There is totally no input lag whatsoever. What I like about the benq is the addtional extra x3 Buttons controller you get. So you have Save your different monitor settings to each button. So I've one for Work, One for BF3 and another for racing games

Also remember you dont have to be using 3D on this monitor to use 120Hz! 3d is just an extra option use it or not, its your choice, i have'nt touched it.

If only I had a cheeky 200 quid to spend on a monitor (if I did I would). I am looking at closer to 150 quid for my monitor but this looks amazing. I hope you haven't convinced me. Might just run the rig off the TV whilst I save.......

Re: Awesome Gaming Monitor from Benq XL2420T

For those with smaller budget, Asus makes some good TN panels for around £150. A VH247H is quite cheap. There's nothing amazing about them, but nothing wrong either.

Also have to remember that if the GPU isn't powerful enough to get anywhere near 120 FPS, this BenQ is going to be a waste. Unless the game is something like CS 1.6, which anything is powerful enough for that.

Anyway, I got this monitor along with a Dell U2412m, which was a recent replacement for a Samsung P2270HD TV/Monitor. Having only used that samsung and CRT monitors before, I was quite surprised how these LED monitors produce very little heat, it definitely makes a difference during (wet...) summers.

Because I always had it with another monitor on the side, it feels like the BenQ has some problems with contrast, crushed black colours. This was partly solved by calibrating it, but there's still some of it, but to be honest, once I get in a game I won't care. It has more to do with photo images, hence why I thought my desktop wallpaper looked odd. Other than that, I've got no complaints. Even just a small test of moving the mouse around, I can see a clear difference between the 120hz BenQ and the 60hz Dell.

I have to admit, with only 1 GTX 680, on BF3 I need to turn settings down for extra FPS and some games it's quite bothersome trying to get it past 60FPS due to a locked vsync setting or engine locked FPS.

I'll be going for this monitor soon!
I would go for the BenQ...if I had the cash. The Asus is decent for normal use with its quick response time.

How does a 120hz monitor get on with vsync? Will you get tearing if the FPS drops below 120fps then?
