How many people use a Full 1080p Tv for their pc monitor?
I went from a 24 pc monitor, 27inch and got the bug! Went to a LG 32inch LH3000 and have never looked back! The clarity is something else!
I spent ages sifting through reviews, more so on Avforums - a site you need to checkout if you go the same route as i did.
When you compare price wise as to what a 30'' pc monitor would cost! Also - my age - ha! I find 1080p spread across 32'' is so more relaxing on the eyes.

Hi I have a dual monitor setup, using an LG 37 inch 1080p TV, as my main monitor, and a 27 inch 1080p Hannspree TV as my second monitor.
I did plenty of research before purchasing, and a lot of people advised against the larger screens, claiming eye fatigue, and poor display. All I can say is I have not suffered with either. The pictures are perfect - on both screens, and I definitely wouldn't go back to my smaller (22 inch) monitors.
My desk is quite deep, and I sit about 3+ feet back from the screens, I wouldn't like to be any closer.
I would only recommend the 1080p screens for PC use, due to possible blurry text on anything lower.
These two TVs, cost a lot less than equivalent sized PC monitors.
Very happy with mine, highly recommended!

I got a BenQ G2222HDL and i'm happy with that . I only have a desk so anything bigger for me would be overkill :)
I do have a Samsung 37" which i have been tempted to hook up to :)

What model of LG did you go for?
Re: How many people use a Full 1080p Tv for their pc monitor?
It's an LG 37LK430 I was lucky, I actually ordered an LG 37LD450, but as it was out of stock, the seller offered me this model instead, for the same price.
There isn't much info on the net for this model (LK) I think I read it was meant for East European market. It is one of the IPS screens, which apparently means it shows a better picture?
Either way I am happy with the screen. The LD that I had originally ordered, seems a good buy too.

I've been considering this too. A friend of mine has a 50" on his wall and uses wireless mouse and keyboard to browse the internet, stream films and play games from the comfort of his sofa, it's a big boys dream.
I don't have the room at the minute and I don't want to give up my 3 displays; 17" CRT monitor for 640x480 gaming, 22" flat screen for general use and 21" CRT TV for retro gaming... think I need to catch up with the 21st century
Re: How many people use a Full 1080p Tv for their pc monitor?
hmm, got a TV as my second monitor on main PC, 27" DGM as main monitor, 32" Samsung as 2nd (think its 1080i, only HDReady), but my HP Proliant Microserver is linked up to my Samsung UE46D8000 but rarely switched on to it as I use remote access to control it.
Xbox and PS3 link in to either samsung with a bit of cable shuffling and I can stream to any of them from the media center, phone, tablet, 3 pc's, server and 2 laptops.
Getting the hang of this stuff now, enjoying it immensely.

Been running a 19" dell for around 5 or more years which came with the old dimension desktop ;) Recently bought the Samsung S23B550V which was quite an upgrade in size and quality :)
And yeah If I went for 27" or larger it would have had to be a TV of course :p

yup. here here. 1080p on a 24" LED/TV monitor. Even in a 30" or even larger monitors or TVs, you would still like to stick to 1080p in some cases. Some applications simply cannot be zoomed in like skype for example. It would be too small in larger resolutions.
Re: How many people use a Full 1080p Tv for their pc monitor?
It depends on your usage, for watching media/playing games etc a TV would be great.
But for work/general desktop usage the extra res from a monitor that kinda size (1440/1600p) is awesome :) (I had a 28" Hanns.G 1200p monitor, now have a U2711 at 1440p)
Re: How many people use a Full 1080p Tv for their pc monitor?
I've used a few TV's 42" and 50" (Samsung, can't remember model) from time to time and for general web browsing and media viewing I'd say for me there are better than any monitor, mostly due to my poor eyesight :)
For gaming though, I can't help but notice ghosting and that there is a generally laggy feel to them, colours as well seem to be way too over saturated for my liking and even trying to adjust the settings it still doesn't look right.
One other thing I noticed and maybe others can confirm this too, I think it's adaptable brightness ? if you right click your desktop on a TV the brightness with change, try it.. right click to bring up the desktop menu and watch the screen up the brightness, close the menu and it will dim.. it does this with movement in games as well, I noticed it in Skyrim and it did my bloody nut in, whenever you stop/move the brightness changes.
Perhaps it was just the TV's I was using, but it was in PC mode, and had all of those junk settings such as noise reduction etc turned off.
Re: How many people use a Full 1080p Tv for their pc monitor?
I find text hard to read when hooking my laptop to my TV, also so odd sharpening artefacts seem to show up, movies look great though. This is via HDMI though - it might be better via other connectors. As a general monitor I find 1080p on anything above 24" too low res, I run a 2560x1440 27" monitor as my main screen and it's great.
Re: How many people use a Full 1080p Tv for their pc monitor?
I'm using an Toshiba Regza 42" HDTV as my main monitor, while I have two HP 24" monitors as my side monitors.
Don't have any problems and it makes watching flims or reading forums pretty awesome.
But soon this HDTV will be moved and my third HP 24" will take center while the HDTV takes up the 4th connection when it goes up on the wall.
Re: How many people use a Full 1080p Tv for their pc monitor?
I don't think I could imagine using a TV as a primary monitor, at least not any time soon.
The odd scaling on most TV panels is more than enough to put me off instantly.

odd scaling? mine works fine - full 1080. Yes you have to adjust in the ccc panel as with nivida as well - once done its done!
Grant you - not all TV's are the same, then you would be a thikko if you didnt do ur homework before hand!
Re: How many people use a Full 1080p Tv for their pc monitor?
I have my computer hooked up to both a 23" Alienware Optx AW2310 120Hz 3D monitor and a 55" LG 120Hz LED 3D TV. The 55" display is only something I use when I play racing games and first person shooters. I will say however that my 55" display is EVERY BIT as razor sharp as my monitor. EVERYTHING looks amazing on it :)
For those of you who haven't hooked your TV up to your computer yet, here's something I've learned through a bit of trial and error. I realize all TV's may not behave the same, but here is a slight problem I ran into. When I first hooked my PC up to my TV, I did it via an HDMI cable. Now, I'm a gamer....and gamers HATE lag! When I would play a first person shooter or a driving game, I would notice a slight delay from what I was doing with my mouse/keyboard to what I was witnessing on the screen. Lag will get you killed in a game, hehehe. I then hooked my PC to my TV via a VGA cable (the good ol' 15 pin monitor hook-up). This resolved all lag issues.
If you've been toying with the idea of hooking your PC to your HDTV, by all means give it a whirl! You most likely will be pleasantly surprised :D
Cheers!
