    Reccomend me a Monitor Arm

I've just taken delivery of a rather astonishingly good Crossover 290HD monitor from korea, the only negative is its a rather low, non adujstable stand. I could ghetto it up with some stacks of paper, but as it has a VESA mount I thought I'd see if anyone has any reccomendations for moonitor arms. It would have to be wall mount as I have a composite desk and the thing weighs a tonne. However I'm looking for reccomendations as I know from a couple of bad experiences at work that the crap ones get droopy very quickly.

Re: Reccomend me a Monitor Arm

I actually use a one above other deskmount arm in this style:

    From these guys
    http://www.monitorarmsandstands.co.uk/
They also do wall mount versions and its all fairly reasonably priced.

I very rarely feel the need to adjust the height, so not having a gas arms works fine for me

Re: Reccomend me a Monitor Arm

The ergotrons we had at the old place couldn't stand a 17" monitor without drooping, never mind a 29". The other downside is for some reason that might make sense in korea, the vesa mount is about 2/3rd of the way along the screen, so it needs to stand quite a bit of imbalance. I suspect a basic pole mount is probably going to be the best solution.

Ergotron do a vast array of models for different weights, different 'elbows', different reaches, different mounts etc. Im sure they will make something that fits the bill but it will cost you more than the monitor did.

Having the VESA mount off centre would actually work quite well with the pole mount as in the full back position, the pole is to the side of the the centre of the VESA so that it doesn't clash.

I have an Allcam one - Vastly superior to even many of the expensive ones we have at work, but for a third of the price too!

They do various mounts, clamps and multi-monitor models.

Man, that company does some great looking ergonomic arm rests that clamp to the desk, but they cost in the league of £95 billy squids each. It's nuts.

Ergotron are expensive and substandard to most models out there.
IT are currently replacing all our Ergotrons with the cheaper, better models I told them to buy in the first place!

I'm sure you're right re monitor arms, but these desk-mounted arm supports look really gnarly.

I stopped paying attention to them after seeing the asking price but I'm guessing there's a warranty scheme for something of that cost.

I wonder how much it would cost to RMA 6,500 items...
