The TV market is a minefield and I doubt many Hexites would know the pros/cons of such a wide-array of TVs. I am a total AV nut, yet I still couldn't tell you and if I were in the same boat I would trundle off to AVForums.com to take a look.

Re: 4k tv or monitor ??

It's rather a vague question. If you're mostly using it for stuff TVs are optimised for (video, games) then a TV may be appropriate while if you're doing a lot of monitor stuff (media editing, text) then that's probably a better idea.

Re: 4k tv or monitor ??

Some of the Korean stuff looks very good and they all support FreeSync. This is the list I've been looking at.

    Crossover 494K
    Crossover 434K
    Crossover 404K
    WASABI MANGO UHD420
    AMH A409U

I'm tempted to go for the 434k but I have seen a report that a couple of people have had some type of flickering issue, so I'm thinking of holding off as apparently the screen is getting a firmware update.
I was all set on a Phillips BDM4065UC but these monitors seem better and cost less.

Re: 4k tv or monitor ??

Friendly advice, stay away from the Philips BDM4065UC, it's a dud. Look at this video that I made with mine, before I returned it and got my money back: https://youtu.be/ZnPrGXG_30o

I have an AMH A409U on the way. I hear only good things about it. It is "flicker-free" and has that nifty "low blue light" some of the new monitors advertise as a good way to alleviate eye fatigue.

Just watched that video - truly awful how it does that !

With regards to using a TV -be very careful when checking specs with regard to refresh and connections. Your AMD card will not do 60hz at 4k through HDMI, as it isn't HDMI 2. Most of the TV's do not have a displayport input.

Re: 4k tv or monitor ??

Monitors are generally better, but as always it comes down to budget and what you're looking to spend. Make sure you check refresh rates if you go down the TV option.
