    4k or 144hz-1440p

Not sure whether to get a 4k monitor Asus MG24UQ or something similar
or go for a 144hz 1440p monitor Asus MG279Q or something similar

wanting to know if it's worth spending an Extra £100 for 144hz but lower resolution.
not interested in 1080p monitors anymore, and also i'm wanting a IPS panel.
will be using it for Gaming on Overwatch at the moment which is a FPS so the 144hz would be great
but also i'll be watching a great deal of series and movies so want the picture to be stunning too.

also wanting peoples opinions if a 27" monitor is too big for gaming.

Not sure about the rest, but I can answer this bit:

No. The bigger the better! Otherwise, you'll just end up pulling a smaller monitor closer to your face.

    Re: 4k or 144hz-1440p

27" is fine, but for me about the limit. Most of my view is taken up with monitor so it's quite immersive. But if something happens to make you look at the left side of the display, then the right edge is peripheral vision so you can miss things.

Jumping from high places in FPS games makes me queezy

I went 144Hz Freesync 1440p, perhaps when I was younger there would have been a point to 4K but my eyes can't do pixels that small any more but the faster framerate and smoothness from Freesync is nice.

IPS and 144Hz is still a rarity I thought?

Are the series and movies you watch available in 4k? If not, then stick with 1440p - neither Windows nor graphics cards are really ready for 4k yet.

Possibly, though 1440p at 144Hz is no walk in the park either.
